Room charging questions

It's been 3-4 years since I've been to WDW so I'm needing to find out if there's been changes....for the better.

Are they still just letting you put one persons credit card on file? I would like for my BFF who's traveling with me to be able to attach her own card to her own magic band so she'd be able to charge back to the room as well.

My DGD15 and her BFF are going with us too and I'm giving her a little more freedom this trip. While we will all be in the parks at the same time we won't always be touring together. I think it will make DGD feel grown up and special if she and her BFF can go get QS meals without me. Can I have it set up to give her charging privileges for meals only...probably not.

I've actually thought about getting QS DP just so DGD can charge their meals, but we'd like to check out some of the new-to-us places at Disney Springs and not all of them take the dining plan. Plus, we're staying at OKW 1BR and I'd like to order a few groceries for the room in case we get stuck in the room due to rain or just want to chill there for a bit.

Any advice out there? TIA:worship:

You can put more than one card - you’ll just need to go to the front desk to do it.

Awesome! I know several years ago, pre Magic Band etc., we took my aunt and uncle and they wasn't able to set up separate charging. I'm glad they addressed this issue!

Yes, the front desk can easily put more than one card on the room so that your BFF's purchases go to her card and not yours. We have never had issues with this, but others have suggested doing a test purchase of water or something at the store to ensure that it is set up correctly.

Regarding your other question, my understanding is that charging privileges are all or none, you cannot designate one category of charges as OK, and not another. Would you trust your DGD with a gift card? If you use the Disney gift card website you could have a master gift card loaded with funds and then transfer some of those funds to DGD's gift card as necessary, then if she loses her gift card you could transfer those funds back to your master gift card so that the funds are not lost (as long as she informs you prior to anyone else getting/using the lost card).

As far as DGD, I think the question is whether you trust her to only charge QS meals on the magic band. If yes, then its no problem for her to do that if she knows the pin number. If not, I agree with PP that perhaps giving her a gift card to use at QS meals might be best.

Another dining option would be to have a CC attached to your account. Most QS restaurants have mobile ordering, she can order her meals from the MDE app and it will be automatically charged to your CC. All she would need is your MDE log in information. If you are not familiar with mobile ordering, you order on your phone click that you are there and they will fill your order. You don't even need to be in the restaurant to order, you can order while on the way or in line or whenever, they won't get the order ready until you click on I'm here. They text or send a notification on your phone when your order is ready, go to the mobile order area to pick up your order... no standing in line to order or pick up your order.

Just to let you know even though Disney allows charging to different cards it often doesn't work. My son and his girlfriend stayed at the BWI CL in December and stopped at the CL desk first thing to put separate charge cards on their magic bands. It took a little bit of time but they were told they were all set and they stopped at the Screen door shop to buy something small to make sure they worked. Everything seemed fine until the end of the trip when they both noticed that nothing had been pulled from either one of their accounts. That's because for some reason all the charges went to my credit card that I had on file! They were heading to Universal for the rest of their trip and it wasn't a big deal, they just reimbursed me when they got home. Be aware that mess ups do happen.

Fwiw on our first trip in 2010 they offered to set up charges to different cards for us. I think it just had to do with the skill of the cm before.

Or maybe your aunt and uncle trip was before even the.
