I'm sorry if there is already a thread about this - I couldn't find one.

Does anyone else have any information about this maintainence? If you don't know what I'm on about, I'll tell you.

I've recently been informed by my tour operator that Disney is undertaking roofing repairs on the All Star Resort hotels. These will take place starting 30th June and will continue until the end of October.

We wanted to find out if we needed to move block / hotel / resort. We found that they had either limited or conflicting information (the staff at the resort itself were unaware of the works!). We have been told that no guests will be accomodated in the blocks undergoing works but we were then told that guests would be placed here but just not on the top floor. We were then further confused and told that specific tour operators' guests will not be in the blocks under repair, but other guests would be placed there.

We are a bit worried as we're not sure what to expect the impact will be from this maintainence. We did ask if it was possible to move to pop but were told it was full.

If anyone has info it would be much appreciated, thanks.

This is from yesterday's WDW Park Update section on mouseplanet.com. As you can see, no mention of any of the All Stars.

Resorts
Polynesian Resort – Work is now beginning on the complete refurbishment and upgrading of rooms and hallways in all buildings, which is expected to be completed by June, 2006.
Contemporary Resort – The South Garden Wing will be closed for refurbishment from May 30 – October 31. Rumors indicate that the buildings may be completely gutted and rebuilt as Disney Vacation Club villas. No confirmation of the conversion yet. After the South Garden Wing is complete, renovations will continue through the rest of the resort, which is expected to run through November, 2007.
BoardWalk Resort – Conversion of the previous Disney Vacation Club sales center into 19 additional villa-style accommodations through June, and the second floor villas located directly above the project area not available for booking during the construction. Major pipe replacement project underway in corridors outside guest rooms daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. through summer 2005. No work scheduled inside guest rooms.
Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa – Phase I's construction of four buildings complete; Phase II's eight units are opening one each month, through October 2005; Phase III's six units due in 2007, involves razing the old Fairway Villas.
Yacht Club Resort – Siding renovation project to continue through mid-2005.
Disney's Vero Beach Resort (DVC Resort) – Roof repairs due to hurricane rehabilitation are ongoing and scheduled to run through late November.
Walt Disney World Swan Hotel – Repainting of the building's exterior is underway. Regular hotel operations are not affected.

I think it's definately happening because we received an official letter from the tour op. They then rang the resort tour op in orlando. I haven't been able to find any mention of it on any sites though. It's very weird. It starts in a couple of days (according to what I've been told) so maybe we will hear something soon. If not I'll be able to tell the guys that are going after me, when I get back.

There was apost in dec about rehab at the AllStars but they were currently working them.I have not heard now. Try the rumor boards,

A few years ago they were doing air conditioning work up on roofs at the All Stars and nobody was booked into the affected buildings because of the danger of heavy objects being lifted with a crane possibly breaking loose and falling.

If the only concern is noise, only the most affected rooms (top floor in this case) would be left unbooked.

Another time there was major grounds maintenance outside one of the All Star buildings and canvas was stretched over some of the (outside) staircases nearest the work area while the building remained open for guests.

Well, nobody seems to know any more than I do about this. Only six days until we leave so it looks like we will stick with the ASMu and hope for the best. I'm a bit dissapointed to find out that ASMu seems to be a really unpopular hotel! If I had chosen (out of the 3 all stars I mean) I think I would have chosen movies. Although, I have heard that this unpopularity may make it quieter and also less busy at the food court! If I find out anything about this roof repair work I'll be sure to come back and let you know. I've decided not to worry about it. I'm so excited that I don't think anything can spoil my trip - I won't let it. :teeth:

I'm scheduled for AS Sports Aug 1st. I am anxious to here from you what the
status is. Hopefully all will be fine :earsboy:

When you don't get a prompt reply, that means you question stumped everyone.

I haven't seen any published reports on that, although I did notice that of the 3 All Stars, walking distance to the central building and food court is longest.

But if a particular resort is less popular there may be more room discounts there.

Forget to fill in the title line for an email and you waste your typing. Into the trash it goes as spam.

I think that you get less feed back on the ASMU not because it is unpopular per se, but I would say out of the three the themeing is less popular for those with kids.
I think that the movies and sports appeal to the younger ones where as the music is more appealing for adults.
I could be wrong, that is just my take. I chose the ASMU for my upcoming trip because the themeing seems "more adult".

ASMu was my first on-site resort and I really like it and I would stay there again. We did travel at an off-season time, but still had some music groups from high schools, etc. but didn't notice any unacceptable behavior from the groups. Our room in Jazz was clean and quiet. I believe we did walk over to the Movies food court one evening and found it much busier and noisier than Music. I've only stayed the one time since I want to try other resorts as well, but I would not hesitate to stay again at Music. I hope you have a safe, happy, stress free trip.

Awww thanks Jockaroo, that's cool. I am looking forward to the trip, it will be nice if the ASMu is quieter but to be honest we are quite noisey and we probably wouldn't notice. Also, don't know about you, but I doubt we will spend much time in our hotel. I promise to ome back and finally answer my own question on this thread hahaha!

Only 5 days to go aaaah I'm so excited!!! :cool1:

Have a great time.
And Please let us know the answer to your question.I love the All Stars.
As for the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in 1971. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait.
When we pull up to check in and I see those huge icons I know I'm at Disney :earsboy: :earsgirl:
Have fun. I am sure will love  it.
