I was just looking at the Disney exibit they have there and it looks amazing! The rest of the museum looks quite good too. About how long does it take to drive out there from Anaheim?

Should be about 1.5 hours with no traffic, but that's the tricky part. To get there you have to cross the worst problem traffic areas in LA. If you went on a Saturday or Sunday the traffic shouldn't be so bad as long as you left Anaheim before 10am or so. And I might avoid the 405 and the 5 once you get close to LA if it were me.

I just went to the exhibit last weekend. It was pretty interesting with lots of Disney costumes and movie props (Tron, Enchanted, costumes used in the Liebowitz photo shoots) as well as some historical documents. They had a pretty decent sized replica of the Black Pearl as well as some of the Marvel movie items like Captain America's bike and the Iron Man costume. There was also a full sized replica of Walt Disney's office. There's not too much on the Reagan/Disney connection, but that didn't really bother me.

We probably spent about 2 hours there, and I went pretty fast through some of the regular library as it was a bit uninteresting to my 3 and 6 year old. They did like walking through Air Force One and seeing the helicopter. And they definitely enjoyed the Disney exhibit. We used to live in the area, and the library has had a huge renovation since our last visit. I thought it was a bit on the pricey side ($21 for adults, $6 for kids 3-9).

If you drive during rush hour time it can easily take 3 hours. If you drive before moring rush or in the late evening then it will take about 1:15. It all depends upon accidents, road construction, etc. The easiest way to get there from Anaheim (Disneyland area) is the I-5 North to the 118 West. Exit at Madera Road and drive approx. 2 miles to Presidential Lane. Stay away from going on the 101 if at all possible because that freeway can be murder to drive.

You'll love the exhibit. I was there for the opening and wished I had more time to look. You can take all the photos you want, as long as you don't use a flash.

The entire library is well done - you'll enjoy a tour through it no matter your political leanings. :thumbsup2

We are going this Saturday on our way down to DLR. Don't know how long we will have to look around, trying to get there as soon as possible. So my main goals are the Disney archives and Air Force One. Hopefully have time to look around at other things, and of course, the gift shop.

The gift shop has lots of great Disney stuff in it, things you can't get at DLR. Some of it was about the exhibit and others about the Disney Archives & D23. I didn't purchase anything other than a couple of books, mostly because I was going to DLR the next week.

Have a great time!

The problem with the 5 is that it goes down to just a few lanes past Anaheim and tends to really bottleneck. But I agree, the 118 is the way to go once you get past LA. Definitely check out sigalert.com if you can to assess the traffic.

Cool! Good to know! :thumbsup2
