Is there anyone out in DisWorld that loves Literature? I need help in writing a letter to Romeo's parents and Juliets parents about why they didnt tell their parents they were getting married!:scared::scared: And what would happen if they did...
Something short and sweet...If ANYONE knows about the story and would like to help please pm me or just reply...
:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

Thank YOU!

Well, Romeo killed Juliet's cousin, Tybalt. Also, Juliet's family wants her to marry their choice, Paris, so they have several reasons to keep Romeo away from Juliet.

The Montague family doesn't get along with the Capulets, and thinks Romeo killing Tybalt was justified. The Prince of Verona banishes Romeo for the killing, since his kinsman, Mercutio, was also killed in the duel. This causes the Montagues to hate the Capulets all the more.

WOW! You know alot about them.
How would you put that into a short letter to Romeos parents,? and Juliets parents, why they didnt tell about the marriage? ugh...I'm having a hard time helping my son with this project.

I am not any good with literature--but here are some suggestions. Take them with a grain of salt. I would consider analyzing literature to be my weakest academic skill.

Idea #1
Have your son imagine if he were Romeo, who would be his Juliet. Knowing that at the end, they will commit suicide--for R&J, being together is more important than life itself.

Sub-idea A: What would Romeo say to her parents to convince them and what would Juliet say to his parents to convince them?

Sub-idea B: What would they each say to their own parent to convince them to provide their blessing?

And if DS is unable to picture himself in love and being Romeo--take your current relationship so that you can understand how to explain it to him--and imagine that your parents and your partners parents didn't want you together and what you might do to convince them that it is the right decision.

As for what will happen, I personally don't envision the family to fall for anything and blessing the union--but as long as what you envision would happen is plausible, then the possibilities are endless.

I would have DS review his discussion notes if he has them and review the family dynamic, the conflict between the families and how the parents would have to be dealt with in writing a letter.

And if that doesn't work--ask him what he wants most in the world that he might consider more important than anything else and what he might write to you to convince you to let him have it.

Seems to me a very cool literature assignment, though. :)

Did your son read the play in class? He should know all the basic facts.

There are two ways he can go with this:

1. They tell their parents which puts an end to the feud and everyone lives happily ever after. Ideally they would tell their parents BEFORE their marriage, so Tybalt and Mercutio would not die. The letter should focus on their "true love" and perhaps mention the blessing of Friar Laurence.

2.They tell their parents and things still go wrong. Capulet could kill Romeo and then Juliet kills herself in despair or something like that. There could be a big street brawl similar to the beginning of the play - thus defying the Prince's decree - and everyone is punished (ie killed) over their role.

Sorry, I missed some of what you were asking for, so I'm editing...

Why they didn't tell their parents:

1.Juliet's family wishes for her to marry Paris and at the beginning of the play Capulet believes she is too young to marry
2.Romeo was just moping about Rosaline, so people would find his new found love for Juliet to be rather hasty
3.The family feud would prevent them from receiving their parents' blessing
4.Romeo kills Juliet's cousin, Tybalt
5.Juliet's family plans a quickie wedding to Paris
6.Romeo is banished
