Ok, so I have gotten a second job to help supply money for my Disney/overall travel obsession and it is in retail. Being not too far from the USA I get a lot of American coinage in the register that I buy out at par but then save and roll up.

I want to take it to Disney with me to use but I am not very familiar with the process in the USA. Obviously it would be easiest just to take it to a bank but on property + Magical Express rules that out unless I want to take an Uber/taxi and that would eat all the benefit of doing this.

Would the front desk take any/stores? How difficult of a time do you think I will have. I know in the end it will only safe me 50 to 80 dollars, but every penny counts when the mouse is in your pocket.

Nobody is happy when someone pays in all change. They have to accept it, but it's a huge pain. They have to stand there and count it all out by hand. It's not fun for the cashier, and it's not fun for the people in line behind you. If you're going to pay with change, please only do it for small purchases.

If you're flying, don't put rolls of coins in your bag - it will look like an explosive device when it goes through the X-ray machine.

When you get to Disney, try and get to a public/Walmart where they have coinstar. Dump in the change and get cash back from customer service. They take a small percentage.

I am so much less organized than you are. I would be inclined to take part of it with me (change is heavy to carry, and you don't want to create security problems for yourself with all that metal at the airport), but be prepared to use it as regular change, bit by bit. DH used to collect US change and then gleefully plot how to gradually spend it when we vacationed in the US! The other alternative would be somehow visiting a casino in the US ...

When our daughter was young we allowed her to pack her on carry-on suitcase which we normally checked for restricted TSA items. This trip we forgot. When we went though TSA they kept sending her bag back through the x-ray machine. Finally they opened it and found a bag full of coins, a very heavy bag. Everyone was laughing, except us. Sarah had emptied out her piggy bank so she would have her own spending money. Once we arrived at Wilderness Lodge I took the bag to the front desk, during a non-busy time and asked if they had a coin machine. No but the very nice clerk, an older gentleman, counted out her change and gave her bills, over $30 worth of small change; mostly pennies, nickles and dimes. Love Disney cast members.

SunTrust has a bank branch at MCO. Just exchange the rolls there for cash. Most banks allow it.

Last time we were at WDW we stayed at POFQ and we saw a little boy exchange the coins he had saved and rolled at the front desk. He was incredibly proud and the whole process took just a few minutes. This was 5 years ago, so I'd call just to make sure they could do it.

For what it's worth, the kid had over 100 bucks.

I was already figuring it would be safest to have everything in one ziplock bag that I can take out of the carry-on easily so that when it goes through security can clearly see what's going on.

I once took a tiny change purse with some coins in my purse. The TSA person yelled at me for not knowing to take it out of my purse so that they could clearly see it. (I had no idea then that this was an issue and apologized profusely.) Since then, I remove the change purse, even if it only has a half dozen coins. I think your idea of one bag to remove before going through security is an excellent one. It makes it easier for security, and hopefully it makes it easier for you as well.

I often fly with change. Smaller amounts than the OP but my last flight, for example, I had ziploc bags with UK, Euro, Canadian, and Swiss Francs (all with at least some coins) in my carry-on. No questions at all. Never have had any. Again, not rolls of joins but definitely more than a "half dozen". As always, YMMV.

Best bet would to cash it all in At the Disney hotel and be done with it unless CM says no which is highly unlikly. What type of coins are we talking about? If taken they probably wont even bother to check if the count is right.
