O.k. well here has been the LAST 9 DAYS OF OUR LIVES not the litteral last days just the past 9 days!!
Anywho As ya'll know on Wed the 9 DH had the second part of a surgery for a Fistula ( a permanent dialysis access) This usually takes about an our or so depending on the patient. As Dh is a fairly big man and the vein was rather deep in his arm they said it would be @ 2 hours. It took closer to 5!! He has 42 staples and came home with a wound bag for yours truly to drain every 3 to 4 hours! This was done on his right arm and he is right handed and the recliner which is the only place he can sleep comfortably with his arm propped is a rightie so...... Guess who has to let the feet up and down????
Thurs I crawled out of my nice warm comfortable bed at 4 a.m. to help DH dress and took him to dialysis.
Well on Fri the 11th we got a call @ 5a.m. from the transplant center for a possible kidney we went down there and gave more blood (Now remember DH had just had surgery and was not supposed to be runnning around!

) Did some shopping at Krogers as there is not one in my town and they were having a GREAT sale!! I walked out of there with $122.56 worth of groceries for $19.76!!! i LOVE triple coupons!!
Anyway we got a call several hours later Not a match. O.k. I was really worried about him having surgery with his arm so bad anyway and even though the transplant surgery said she didn't think it owuld be a problem nobody had looked at it when we got there so I really expected that even if it was a match for the surgeon to take one look and say NO! Too much risk for infection! This was Kidney #17 by the way.
That night the kiddos came home from my moms! I was missing those little buggers!!
Sat a.m. Crawled out of bed at 4a.m. again to help Dh get ready and then drug the kiddos out of bed and we took Daddy to Dialysis. Then after we got home I helped him shower (there is a funny story about this on Sharky and QMs take four thread!) and then we did the bandage change that's when we found out about the staples we both thought he dad stitches and yes that's when I counted those suckers! I wanted to see if I still beat him out on the staple count! I did!!! I've had more than double that!
Sun we went to church and though it really tired DH out we went back Sun night. My mom had the kids spen the night with her as DH had a Drs app. the next a.m.
So MOn we went to the Dr and he pulled the drain bg out. We hd been having some problems with it not draining enough and Dhs arm leaking around some of the staples and the hole where the drain bag went in. Well the drainbag was clogged. Dha has some clotting issues so any way. we come back home after a long day
then Tues the dialysis drill again and then My oldest sis called and she was wanting to take Tyler home with her (She had been staying with my Mom to help take care of my kids and just to visit)so they came and picked up Ts clothes and then I met my Mom at the store and picked up B a little later. He was NOT happy that he didn't get to go with T. But he had a Dr app. Thurs so he couldn't this time.
that night we went to prayer meeting. After Prayer meeting we were hanging around talking to my fam. My parents, Sis and her 2 kids and my bro and Sis in law when my Dad got a phone call and then he handed it to DH

It was the transplant center somehow they always call him if they can't reach us by our home phone. We have tried to change that for 2 years now. They all have our cell #s and say we are 1st on the list but Oh Well he can usually get a hold of us. So I'm all excited because they had taken extra blood Fri and said if they called in the next 2 weeks it would be a match and we would head in for a transplant!!!
Well so far the crossmatch was a match but they wanted to be double sure so could we come in for more blood work??? Hey whatever it takes. So I literally threw B in my parents truck. (It wasn't very hard he was laughing!!!

) ran home grabbed clothes, dropped Bs off at a resturant with my Dad got gas and then went to the HOspital we got there @10:45 Then we were going to another Sis of mine to wait for the results. She lives @40 min from the medical center so It would save us some gas. We got a call about midnight just before we got to her house. Now mind you DH was starving! He hadn't eaten supper, we were going to do that after prayer meeting and then they called and said don't eat because of surgery. so anyway we get a call from the coordinator and the Surgeon had just called her and the kidneys weren't going to be able to be used by anybody.

It was something that didn't show up on any of their test but when tey went to harvest them the word she used was they were too Fragile! I was so sad! Not just for us but for the other person that would have gotten the other kidney and for the parents of this girl who in spite of their grief were going to give a gift of life to some that desperatly needed it! Please say a prayer for this family. All we know is that it was a 16 year old girl!
So we went home and yes it was tough to be so close AGAIN!! This is the third time in 18 kidneys that we actually had a match and then something was wrong. Once, there was too much damage on the back of the kidneys from the wreck, the 2cnd had a kidney infection and then this one!
Oh well God Knows and he hears us and I have to cling to that!!
Anyway That we woke me up and we drove through the nearest place we could find and pigged out and then drove home.
And then I did something very selfish! I was falling asleep at the wheel. Literally. It was 1:30 a.m. For over a week I hadn't gotten over 4 hours of sleep at night and it had hit me. I kept telling DH (who was in a lot of pain with his arm but wouldn't take his meds because he was scared he woud be sleeping and then I would go to sleep!) Just let me pull over somewhere and walk @ The problem was there was no where to pull over and no place to get something to drink to wake me up Soooooooooooooo
Yes Dh had to drive the last 30mins home!!
Oh well it hurt him but at least we made it home safe!!!
Anyway we are hanging in there. Dhs arm keeps wanting to hold fluid in it but we just prop it up sev. feet in the air and fluid drains!!
I switched Bs appt to Mon and now I get the thrilling joy of driving to HOuston 2 days in a row Since he has 2 app. at Texas Childrens Hospital. Couldn't get them on the same day although I did try!
And there you have it! The Past 9 days of our life. Oh yeah Braeton informed me yesterday that I could go to church by myself last night. That he could stay and take care of his Daddy. He was RESPONSIBLE enough!!

That child!!
