Hi,

I have a roll in shower room at ASMO because I have balance and mobility problems and can't step in and out of a tub without falling. What I want to ask is how do you keep the floor from flooding when you shower? I'm bringing a beach towel with me to use after my shower to dry off(I use one at home too). Will I need a lot of towels to wipe up the floor? I have trouble bending to touch the floor so I can't bend too long to clean up any water. I'm worried I'll walk in there and forget it's wet and fall or worse fall and break a bone. Also I can't get up on my own without help. I'm going solo on this trip my last trip was in 1994 so, lots of new things to experience. If I call for towels can I ask for extras to wipe up any excess water? Do you have any tips or tricks? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA :tink:

First of all, all of the Disney Resort hotels that have roll-in shower rooms have floor drains in the shower that are more than capable of keeping the majority of the water in. They also will have a soft silicone seal (like the seal that goes around your car door to keep rain and wind out of the car) that goes across the entryway. Some of the showers have a drain that runs across the entry to the shower instead of the seal.

Even if the shower curtain blows around a bit, you should not have too much water on the outside of the shower. Typically, I ask for extra towels on arrival, and I lay one down outside the shower, and that's more than enough.

Inside the shower, I use a length of non-slip material (you can find it at Amazon, Walmart or Target) to help me feel safer. You don't have to have it, I'm just super extra careful. I like that it can be washed in any washing machine (I pop it into a lingerie bag for washing) and then hung to dry between showers. I use it at home, and when I travel.

If your room has the "mesh" style seat, know that it may sag when you sit down, and make getting back up a bit more difficult, depending on how far it sags. The hard plastic benches are (in my opinion) much better, but those are only at a few Resorts now apparently.

I also always put a clean towel down on the bench, since it's not my bench at home...

There will be wall-mounted dispensers in the shower with bath wash, shampoo and conditioner.

Hope this is the kind of info you were looking for! 🙂

Thank you so much @mamabunny . This helps with the anxiety I have with going on this trip. I have a cut out in my tub that allows me to just step up a little with the help of hand bars and step out with the hand bars. Something that is even with the floor is so much easier. I won't be needing the seat. I'm okay standing in the shower just not getting in or out of a tub. Your information was very helpful. Now I can't wait until December. All I have to do now is pay off the rest of my trip, make a few reservations for things like a scooter and car service. Then getting things I need for the trip that I don't already have. Thanks so much again. :tink:
