The following are snippets from different Trip Advisor reviews, all from this year:
"Charged us for dog fees and we didn't even REMOTELY have dogs near the room- or any other animal- stay or be in the hotel room! But yet we were charged for it. When we booked the reservation on-line we wanted a ground floor room and the only available ones were "pet-friendly" so we reserved a room for us and our two teenage sons. Since we reserved that room they asumed we had pets. Asked front desk to open the big gate that has a sign on it "Busses and trucks please see front desk to open" (We were driving a 26 foot Uhaul with an attached 8 foot tow dolly and van)- Front desk told me to back it up !!!????? Finally after arguing they agreed to open the gate. This location has a driveway shaped like a "U" that goes around the building- so ANY huge vehical- busses, trucks, RV's and U-HAULS cannot back up. Management for this hotel not very good at GUEST RELATIONS (in a depressed economy- are you kidding me). When we were questioning the $140 charged to our card- they said we had pets and were charged $100 for that. After arguing, the General Manager of this location told my wife that maybe we should have stayed somewhere else!!!!! We even invited her down to the room to look at it to see there were no animals. Choice Privileges member- not much longer. "
"Stopped here for a nite on our way to the Keys. Took our overnite bag and laptop case into the room and then went across the street to eat. When we came back our room had been broken into and our things were gone. Called the front desk and 911. Hotel staff took a report and told us they had security cameras but they did not have access to them and the one person who did would not be there until Monday. Cops took a report and showed us the tool marks on the loose fitting door where the theft had popped the door open. He said they did'nt have many thefts in that area but told us not to leave anything in our car overnite. While getting the rest of our luggage from the car we noticed three other doors with the same tool marks. We spent a sleepless nite with a chair under the door handle. Took one look at the breakfast in the morning, grabbed a cup of coffee and got the heck out of there."
"I've stayed here dozens of nights over the years. I think that the place has changed hands recently, because the rooms used to be clean and the premises, including pool were very nice, including a nice, well heated pool.
The past couple of times we had rooms with bare minimum towels, pillows, and just about everything else. We've experienced malodorous conditions in some rooms, insects in others. Our latest room was full of small insects: ants, bedbugs, termites? The water in the sink was plenty hot, unfortunately that's all that we could get to come out of it. Ever try brushing your teeth or washing your hands with what seemed like near scalding water? Oh, the pool, still appears clean, but not nice and warm like it used to be for many years. We know better than to bother with their "free breakfast."
Bottom line, cheap is cheap, but sometimes it's just worth it to spend a little more money to get something clean and decent for your family. "
"The room was incredibly smelly. We tried to open a window but all the windows were sealed. Eventually we got used to the smell (Don’t worry you will do the same when you have to). TV was old(I am guessing that it was the first prototype) and when turned on, it was making a sound that no kind of human being could stand. There was no hairdryer in the room. For me it is no big deal as I am getting bald but my wife was shocked when she found out that there was no hairdryer.
In the morning, Only one person can have a shower because the hot water finishes before the second person goes in. I experienced this problem both days. Ahh the breakfast of course. I must say that it was a joke. There is a separate building for the breakfast. In the morning somebody is waiting next to the door and checks if any guests is taking anyting out to the rooms. Don’t fancy anything better. There are only bananas and bagels."
Doesn't sound like a vacation to me.
