Rocky Trails Mounty Tales Montana Glacier Banff Canada

Thank you for taking the time to write a trip report. This sounds like such a great trip! May I ask who your guides were?

Thank you!

We had Maria (2nd time on this trip) and Erika (who was in her Rookie year).

I was a bit disappointed in the lack of knowledge but this was comparing them to Stephanie and Nadine from Storybook Kingdoms last year. They were more than awesome!

At some points, the guides acted like they were the ones on vacation. :rotfl:

Having taken 3 ABDs now, I would honestly say this last one held nothing special that could not have been done on your own. Nothing held that WOW factor, that we are SPECIAL factor. :(

The scenery held the trip by far.

Zakatak,

Thanks for your response. We would really like to explore that area someday.

Funny we had the same reaction to our second ABD trip. On the first trip the guides were wonderful. :thumbsup2 The second the guides were really nice people but as guides they left something to be desired. :confused3 I wonder if it has something to do with not knowing what to expect on the first trip and then having too high expectations on the second. Oh well.:rotfl2:

Thanks again for your response!

Maybe it's level of experience or maybe they were just having a bad week. I know the guides on our second trip were absolutely phenomenal! I would travel with them again in a heartbeat (and the guides on our first trip too).

lets see if i can get these pictures to work:

Nice photos Briano72. The scenery looks like the North American version of Alpine Magic.

I agree with RSM, briano72! Spectacular scenery. Great pics!

Did they provide wet suits for the river rafting trip? They did in Peru, curious as we are taking this trip in another month. So looking forward to it.

I believe they would have had the water been colder. I remember them saying the water was "warm" enough not to need them (at 42 degrees). :lmao: However, they were correct. The water was not terrible after sitting in the sun for 2 hours!

My first post! I've read posts for several years but am finally taking the plunge and posting. We were on the Glacier trip the week before Brian & loved it. We had previously done Spririt of America and were worried about a let down after the first. One thing that the families on our trip kept saying was we wished there was more time to hike in Glacier. Another day would have been nice. We didn't get to canoe on Moraine Lake due to cold weather (40 F), snow flurries and white caps on the lake. Instead we spent extra time at Lake Lousie and were able to walk part way around. Our family was bummed that Maria wasn't on our trip. She was one our first guides & we would have loved seeing her on a horse or rafting! Tiffany, one of the guides we did have had recently moved to Banff and was able to give a little bit of an insiders view on the town.
After this one were thinking about doing Germany next summer. We have a German exchange student spending year and would like to visit her home afterwards.

Welcome to the DISBoards! Will you be doing a Report? Posting pictures? :goodvibes

I think doing the Germany ABD so you can visit your exchange student sounds like a great idea!

Well after seeing those pictures I think I just might have to do that trip! We are going on Southwest Splendors in Sept. since I have never seen the Grand Canyon, but I am so impressed with the trip report and pictures of this one, and my husband is a fanatical moountain fan ( we live on the gulf coast and it is hot and flat). Thanks so much for the great report and pictures.
