I have been on 3 rollercoasters in the past 15 years....space mountain (never again) - BTMRR (love it) - and a wooden one at Hershey Park that KILLED me (practically - my son guilted me into it).

I really want to get up the nerve to try the rockin rollercoaster but am afraid.....very, very afraid......I have never been on a coaster that goes upside down.

Can someone compare this ride to a wooden one.....if I close my eyes will I just feel the speed like Test Track....

Advice everyone!!!

Rock'nRollercoaster is similar in it's ride to BTMRR in that it's steel and hence a smoother ride than a 'woodie'. There's no slow, scary climb up the first hill with all the anticipation that goes with that. You're blasted to 50+ mph in less than 3 seconds, and complete your first loop before you know you've done it. Aerosmith music drowns out any other noises, including the screams of other riders. It's all in the dark with day-glo highway signs that simulate rte. 5 in Calif. Perhaps Space Mtn., which I think is tame compared with BTMRR. bothers you beacuse of the dark? Something to consider. If not, the dark should take the apprehension out of the ride and allow you to enjoy the speed.

DO IT!!! I hate roller coasters, and this past Saturday I did it for the first time, got off, and did it AGAIN! If you like BTMRR, you will love this ride. It's in the dark, and that giant drop is non-existent. It just goes VERY fast, and you don't even know you are upside down. Don't miss it.

Definitely Try it!! I did it for the first time in April. I also tried Space Mountain for the first time. (I won't get on SM again, I thought I was going to lose my head.)

I love BTMRR, and I really liked Rockin Rollercoaster.
I will be going on it again in September. Like others said, you don't even know your upside down and its over.
Its just fast and fun. With awesome Aerosmith blasting in your ear. "Sweeeeet Emmmooootion!"

I have decided I will ride every Disney ride at least once. I am healthy, so they won't kill me, just scare me. You won't get me on Tower of Terror again, but at least I can say I rode it.

I am really looking forward to riding Mission: Space.

Have a fun trip!!

I agree with the others. I didn't tell my DH about it before we rode and he got off and asked if it went upside down because he couldn't tell (and we are thrill seekers!). It is a great ride. It is very smooth and besides, you don't want to miss the Aerosmith concert, do you? :smooth:

I will go on ANY roller coaster so this isn't coming from a chixken but I HATE (can't stress that enough) Space Mountain. I love roller coaster bus I like to see where I am going. I was hyper ventilatting through this entire ride and had little tears in my eyes by the end of it !!!

RNR on the other hand is my favorite in Disney World !!! :bounce:

Disnee Dad Says.......................................Go for it!

They blast you into the inversion so fast and it's dark that you won't know what happened till after you are through it. There's also a couple corkscrews, but it's hard to notice cause it's dark. It's more like floating. In daylight on a corkscrew you see sky, ground sky ground. In the dark you see.... darkness!!!!

And it's all over in 90 seconds!

This is a fantastic ride.

There's no fear build up as you're queing as you cant see the ride..the height ...,the loops etc.

My DD 8 did this ride wont do any others and even shee loved it.

Try and get front row seats...an amazing feeling..but over quicker than you can say 'love in an elevator' ..well almost!

Which wooden one at Hershey? Some of them are rough there, but not so bad.

Lets put it this way, my family are coaster connosieurs. My son and daughter have been riding them since they were three. (very tall kids)

Rock n Roller Coaster is smooth, the initial launch is like going fast in a car.. and really after that its practically nothing. My son went on it at four years old, and my daughter is attemting to go on it this year at five years old. (she is exactly 48 inches!)

I used to be a roller coaster fan in my younger days, but as I've gotten er-ummm "older", I find myself not liking them as much. I get very anxious standing in line and my stomach starts to do flip-flops. Which is exactly what happened when I was standing in line for RNR. I thought I was going to pass out from anxiety. But as soon as that ride took off.........I had a BLAST !!!!! The RNR is VERY smooth. I must confess that I did have my eyes closed and honest to goodness, I couldn't tell that we went upside down. Really and truly couldn't tell. So on my next trip, I'm going to try it with my eyes open ;) ;) ;)

Go ahead and give it a shot.

I would also like to know which coaster you rode in Hershey. We have ridden them all and there are some worse than others. Woodies are traditionally a rougher ride (especially the older ones) than steel. I am also a chicken (can't do a ferris wheel) but will try a coaster at least once. Three years ago my then 7 year old begged to try Rockin Rollercoaster. I was more worried about him barely making the height that I didn't have time to worry about my own fears. Since then we have ridden this coaster on every trip. I also will not do Space Mountain (something about it just scares me) but love BTMRR (hope it opens back up just a few days early). I would say try it - the last corkscrew is really good!

Just as a side note, same DS now 9 got me on the Great Bear at Hershey this summer (my first inverted coaster). I thought I would pass out from nervousness in the line. It is now one of my favorites.

With some trepidation I rode RNRC. I'm glad I tried it, but I sure didn't feel very well the rest of the day. :(

I know EXACTLY what you mean--I used to be a real coaster nut but now just the thought of the pre-ride anxiety makes me so nervous:( I am sooo afraid I will pass out, throw up or embarass myself in some way that I won't even get close to coasters now:( I am hoping that when my DDs are brave enough to try them my maternal instincts will overcome my fear.
