Everything I read on this is not too specific, so I'm hoping someone can give me a heads up before I try it. I've heard that it's a smoother ride than Space Mountain, but I haven't heard about the drops. Does RRC have steep drops at all? Or is it more twisty and turny? Does it go upside down at all? I want to prepare my kids in advance!

Thanks,

Robin

It's definately a twisty turny type of ride. There are a few drops but it's heavy on corkscrew loops and turns.

The best part of RnR (or the worst, depending on how you look at it!) is the initial take off at 60 mph. It's a VERY smooth ride--you do go upside down but oddly enough you hardly realize it till it's past.

I'm not sure how old your kids are. Mine was 8 the first time she rode it and she loved it. This kid absolutely detests Splash Mountain because she dreads the huge drop at the end and psychs herself out. Since you can't see too much during RnR (it's fast, smooth, and dark), it's not as frightening to her.

It is much smoother than space mountain. Its one of our families favorites rides. If you like coasters at all you will love it.

R-n-R is more "intense" than SM, but a lot smoother. There's one drop in the middle of SM that always causes me some momentary back pain, but I have no problems with R-n-R. There's no sudden drops on it.

that it is a much smoother ride but there are a lot of sharp turns and loops that SM does not have. Great ride with great themeing!

Rock 'n Roller Coaster is a smoother ride than Space Mountain but very, very different. I'm 55 years old and don't like looping coasters. My youngest son finally talked me into trying the ride last year. It was GREAT. As other people have said, the main thrill is the launch at the beginning of the ride. Other looping coasters give me a headache, but since R-n-R is in the dark, you hardly know when you are in a loop.

I would add one caution about the smoothness. The overhead restraint is padded, however, there is some side to side head motion during the ride because of the looping and turns. I wear hearing aids and if I don't have the restraint positioned properly, sometimes my head would hit it near my ears which can hurt.

You need to be the best judge of what your kids can tolerate. My 9 year old niece went on it a couple years ago and cried through most of the ride although she loved Space Mountain and Tower of Terror. If your kids have done other looping coasters, I'm sure they will love this one.

My daughter (5, loves roller coasters) liked Space Mountain better because it was longer. She also did not notice that she went upside down on her first ride, and thought the second ride was different. The Rock & Rollercoaster is intense, less jerky than Space Mountain, and short.

If you are seated near the front of RnR it is hard to notice the 3 inversions. If you are near the end of the limo, you can see the front sections going upside down. This probably changes how folks experience the ride. I love it! LOL

Hey!
There isn't really that many big drops...accasionally one maybe but there is 3 loops and a couple of corkscrews. I was kind of nervous my first time i went on it but now i love it and can't get enough...yes it is very smooth and very fun and it is over before you know it!

Have fun!

We loved this Roller Coaster when we went in 2000. My son was only 4 then and didn't get to go on it- he was too short. He's 7 now and finally tall enough to go on it on our trip this month. He is more than excited that he gets to go on it this time!!!
Definately twisty and turny and not alot of drops- but you don't really feel it as everyone has mentioned it is in the dark.

Ooohhh, my favorite ride and I am not a roller coaster person!!! The take-off is incredible. The only way I could tell that we had flipped upside down was that my shoulders hit the overhead restraints. Incredible. I'm trying to convince my dd, 10, that she'll like it this summer. She adores SM.

I loved RnRC and frankly I couldn't have told you how many loops were in it unless I'd read it here on the board. I don't remember any corkscrews either. LOL! It is a smooth ride and it is dark so you just kind of feel yourself going but not really telling where you're going. I knew there were loops in it before riding so I try to keep my head firmly against the back of the seat and to one side of the restraint to keep my head from bobbing around. It wasn't a problem. I bought one of those eyeglass fasteners that hook on to the eyeglasses and fit tightly around the head so I could keep my glasses on - no problems with that (they are sold in the theme parks there). SM hurts compared to this coaster! I didn't even bother with SM this time (ugh...getting too old to ride that jiggly thing!)

like all the other posters have said, RnR is a very smooth ride....the most intense part is the launch: 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds....awesome!!! The ride is completely enclosed and is a relatively short coaster.....To the best of my recollection, there are 2 loops and 1 cork-screw....very smooth though, it doesn't jerk you around like some other coasters....very exhilerating!!
