Ok - I need some information on this ride before I can decide if it is for me. I don't have any problems with motion or upside down. If any of you are familiar with it, I love the Mind Bender coaster at Six Flags over Georgia. It's a big looping coaster - 3 loops I think - very smooth. I have no problems with BTMRR either. No problems with ToT (I ride it multiple times every time I go). No problems with the tea cups. No problems with heights or drops at all.

I do have issues with Space Mountain only because it is in PITCH DARK and has lots of turns and twists and does a number on my neck and head and I leave with a headache. If Space Mountain were not in the dark I don't think I would have any problems because I would see upcoming twists and turns and my head wouldn't be flung to the side when the turn came.

What I need to know about RNR is:
1. Is it in PITCH DARK
2. What are the seats/restraints like? Is there any additional support for your head/neck?
3. Are there any sharp twists and turns that you are not aware of until they happen?

Thanks!

As I recall, RRC has the pull down padded system that goes over your head onto your shoulders and across your chest. This supports your head. It is not pitch black as there are neon signs all over that light it up somewhat. It is a very smooth ride and you are not thrown around. I think you will enjoy it.

I will answer this as a RnRC lover and a Space Mountain hater, there is no comparison between the two. SM is really jerky and rough, while RnRC is very smooth. Most of the time you won't even realize you're going into a corkscrew or a loop, and there are no unexpected, jerky turns. I think the smoothest ride is up front, if that's an issue to you. As far as it being pitch black, no it's not. It is dark, but you're going through the "LA Freeway", so there are signs all over that are lit up with a black light. The back of the car is very high and it's padded, the restraints come down over your shoulders.
This is the best ride in The World....go and enjoy!

I agree with Magickndm. The ride is very smooth. The front seat is best for 2 reasons - it is a smoother ride and you can better see what is coming. The ride is not as dark as Space Mtn, though I've always found that once my eyes adjust I can see the track ahead pretty well on that.

If you don't want to get rattled, stay in the front four cars. If you look at the road signs along the tracks, you will have an idea of what the coaster will do next.

It is dark, but it's not constant as on Space Mntn. Just remember to keep your head back during the ride, and you'll be fine.

My friend calls RnR "Space Mountain on steroids".

Enjoy!

All I have to say is 3-2-1 Go! This is a blast. The ride is smooth. The music great.

As Prince Eric stated - RnRC is a very smooth ride. Space Mountain is old technology and is a very herky-jerky coaster.

One day DW and I rode RnRC 3 times in a row. Then went to MK and rode SM. After SM we both commented that RnRC was much, much smoother that SM. It is night and day!

Now, as far as the darkness is concerned. It is pretty dark in there! You're first loop is totally in the dark - then things get a little brighter.

RnRC is a cool ride though! Try it - you'll like it! Just remember you start from a complete stop! Then shoot off at 60 mph (I think).

Enjoy!

Yes, RnRC is much smoother than any other coaster at WDW, however, I do find that I sometimes have a slight headache when I get off. I love the ride (and that says a lot since I hate most coasters), but despite the over the shoulder restraints and high back, I do find that my head sometimes hits the seat and I do feel it for awhile after I get off. Also, my mother, who loves all coasters and any thrill ride, felt a little ill after she got off. It might have had more to do with the fact that she rode it right after Star Tours, but just something to keep in mind. She did, however, mention that she didn't notice we went upside down, so it shows you how smooth it is--also that it is pretty dark since she didn't see us go upside down either.

If you can't tell that it goes upside down, what's the point?

If you like Mind Bender (old technology) you can handle this just fine ! This makes Mind Bender look pretty rough.

The cars have pull over restraints like Ninja or Scorcher......

I ride them all at Six Flags and this is probably the smoothest - non-jerking roller coaster I have ever been on. It has the smoothness of Superman without the speed or height.

Yes it is dark, but your eyes actually adjust, I guess the glo of the neon billboards. Not the lost darkness you feel in Space Mountain.

Do it, you won't be sorry :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

lfontaine, we're glad she didn't notice because she was afraid the contents of her bags would dump out and since we were switching resorts that day, she had a lot of her stuff in it. We convinced her to try it anyway, that nothing would fall out (we had put it in a Disney shopping bag and tied the top) and when we got off she said "well of course nothing fell out, we didn't go upside down," as though the ride were different for her than the rest of us. After 3 little kids told her that it did, she finially believed it.

Am anxious to give it a try again this time. I've only ridden it once before and left with a whopping headache. No matter what I do, my head seems to get rattled between the restraint bars. My problem was that it took off so fast, it took my breath away! I couldn't get over that, so I didn't enjoy the ride very much.

I've ridden this ride a lot and love it! However, the last ride I took was right up front and I got off with a headache. This ride is very fast and over before you know it. The first couple of seconds set the entire ride. It launches forward at such a fast pace it literally takes your breath away, as someone else pointed out. There are a string of lights just before take off and when you are in the front car your eyes do not have time to take it in and you're inside the ride. If you sit in the back cars that extra split second of time gives your brain time to realize what's happening. Sounds weird if you don't know this ride. From now on, I will ALWAYS be sure to get into a car toward the back. But I have to say, it's my favorite ride in all the land!

I can definitley tell I'm going upside down, but then again, I'm all of 95 pounds, but still, if your eyes are open, you can see the track well enough to know where you're going.
