Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Inaugural 06/27/09, Seattle WA

I will be there and am trying to find a decent, cheap place to stay. We'll probably end up in Bellevue or Issaquah. I'm making it a small family vacation and will be there from the 25th-29th. Seattle is one of my favorite places to be.

I am worried about the race, though. The one other half I've done in Seattle had some hills that I wasn't really expecting and they really, really hurt. I am going to train this time, though, so I'm hoping to be able to walk the next day. lol. :D

I'm going to be there for the half! But, well, it's kind of my stomping ground, so I really have no excuse... In fact, I'm getting married near Toronto two weeks later, and I've delayed my trip (I'm driving cross-country with the dog) for a few days for the race. :)

Looking at the course map, it looks like it should be a good race - mostly flat, until the end, and then a good downhill for the last mile or so. The marathon route is a little crazy, through some nice areas (actually, it goes right past the back-building for my apartment complex!) but I'm not sure I like how it out-and-backs twice. Running along the waterfront should be awesome, though.

Anyway, anyone interested in a meet before the race? As a thematically-appropriate location, I'd like to suggest Revolutions Cafe at the Experience Music Project (EMP) at the Seattle Center - you can't miss it! Just walk towards the Space Needle, and then detour to the building that looks like a giant melted plastic blob beneath it. Admission to EMP|SFM is not necessary to enter the restaurant, which has an outside entrance. Also, EMP|SFM will have their Jim Henson exhibition going in June, which may be a must-see for some Muppets fans.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing some people here in Seattle! If anyone has any questions on places to stay/eat/see, I'd be happy to help you out!

Sarah

I'll be there!! I'm really looking forward to it, and I love INAUGURAL events!

After Country Music Marathon and some recovery it's now time to focus on getting to the finish line in Seattle. It will be here quick.
