We have a tournament in Rochester this summer, anyone have any info on fun things to do, malls etc?

We love the Strong Museum of Play...it's fantastic with or without kids. There is an area full of toys and boy is it a walk down memory lane.

We want to check out Eastman House the next time we go.

Rochester has all kinds of festivals and events going on...I picked up a pamphlet the last time we were there. Something seemed to be happening every weekend. It's a very nice area.

I'll try to post some info from that pamphlet this evening.

I know I'm probably dating myself on this, but why not ask Jack Benny?

Thanks, I think we'll be in "Greece" Rochester, if that means anything. Apparently Seabreeze park is close, looks fun.

It is fun. Seabreeze is a small, very charming amusement park. Great for little kids. It's on a hill sloping down towards the lake. Nice view.

One cautionary note: there isn't a lot of food selection here, but staff directed us to a cluster restaurants a few blocks away.

We took a road trip to Rochester last summer, we try to find a different theme park to travel to each summer. We went to Sea Breeze and it was perfect for a one day throw back to old style amusement parks. We had fun, and it does have a nice little water park area too. You feel like you are a part of history there. We stayed in Irondequoit close to Sea Breeze, the Rochester area is actually quite large. We also enjoyed shopping at the Waterloo outlet malls, about 30 minutes past Rochester on I-90. There is a nice mall just off I-90, the Eastview Mall that has all our Amercian favourites, including a new Kohls just across the street. Be sure to try Abbott's frozen custard while you are there...it is so yummy!

As someone already mentioned, the Strong Museum of Play is wonderful, especially for little kids. If you're interested in shopping, there is a Land's End Outlet right in Rochester at the Marketplace Mall, and about 45 minutes outside of Rochester (going towards Syracuse), there's the Waterloo Premium Outlet Mall, but you'd probably want to plan to spend a whole day there - it's huge!
