Rob, Cass & Kira - "This trip is NOT going to suck!!!"-A Fall 2013 PTR -updated 9/23

Scrapping Fool

This pre trip report has given me the drive to get my last Disney trip scrapbooked ::yes:: :cool1:

I have tried on several occasions to scrap our 2009 trip and it just hasn't worked out. It seems I set out to do it and I get sick. Like really sick :scared:

I'm going through a little lupus set back right now and I don't get out much lately because of it so I figured this was a great time to spend even more time on my computer than usual

I used to scrapbook the old fashioned way. Then in 2003, I discovered digital scrapping!!! :worship: I have been hooked ever since! Back then, I had to make my own elements and papers and it took a loooong time

Now, I just buy all the stuff! It's so much easier and faster and people way more talented than I create some awesome stuff :thumbsup2

I love it because I can use my minimal Photoshop skills to do my layouts, customize what I buy and journal it all. Then I print them out in these awesome coffee table-like books. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way they turn out and will never go back to using papers, markers, glue and scissors :faint:

I have been buying digital SB stuff for YEARS now and I honestly can't tell you exactly where I got everything, however, I can list my fave sites and you can go check it out for yourself if you want to know who made what.

In the past 6 years, 95% of my stuff that I have purchased have been from the above sights.

And here is a Beginner's Guide for DigiScrapping:

Most scrappers like using 12 x 12 layouts but my favourite publisher has these great 11 x 8 books so that is what I use.

Okay, so now onto my layouts :p

Oh Cass, I remember this trip and her meltdowns! You've done a fabulous job on this scrapbook!! Call me jealous. Will you do mine after our Africa trip?:cloud9: jk. I hope you feel better:hug:, enjoy this down time!

I loved all your scrapbooking pages. Gorgeous. I started digital scrapbooking in 2008. I try to create one book for each year and another for each vacation. I still don't have every year done, but I'm working on it. :headache: It is sooo much easier than all the cutting and pasting  but I still seem to have a hard time getting the job done. I need to get back on that...
For the record, Kira looks very happy in most of those pages. You did a good job scrapbooking out the :furious: baby pictures. :rotfl:
Can't wait to see more.

Hi
coronado springs we loved it there !!! so relaxing ..and love the landscape :)
you are in full planning mode :) don't you just love that part !!!!!!!:cool1:

Amazing scrapbook!! So impressed! I've been using shutterfly to document our trips, but you may have converted me! ;)

It's so nice to see you in so many pictures, too. I sometimes feel the moms get left out of the scrapbook, since we are the ones usually behind the camera!

GREAT layouts... funny you talk about Digi scrapbooking. I signed up for an online class to get me motivated to start. I can't wait. I love your scrapbook designs. So, I have a question? Do you store all your stuff on your computer or do you put it on a separate hard drive? My only hesitation with digital scrapbooking is all the large files on top of my large picture files.

I also remeber that trip ( from your TR ) but OMG :scared1: how talented you are ( scrapbook ) wow !! beautiful I won t show you mine they don t half compare those make wonderful souveniers .

As someone who was taunted as a young lass for her inability to draw an identifiable stick person............I am quite honestly, gobsmacked!

Can I send you all 5000 pictures from my last trip for you to scrap for me? :lmao:

Just caught up after a week off the DIS..... and what a great way to catch up!!!

I digital scrapbook also and am also still working on my 2009 trip with a goal to finish before our November trip! (have a few of my layouts posted in my PTR also- but not nearly as many as you). I love, love, love to look at others scrappages! So thanks for sharing! (also, loved the pictures of AKV because that is where we are staying this November). I think I have all the same kits as you as well! :)

I also have three of the same foodie choices for our Nov. trip: Be Our Guest (lunch), Norway Princess Breakfast & Prime Time.

And we stayed for a few nights pre-Dream cruise in June at Coronado. Like you, Southwest theming wasn't my cup of tea, but the resort is very nicely done. The rooms are big & nicely decorated. And my children LOVED the pool. They have a 'turning on' ceremony every day when pool opens where you can sit on the Mayan temple and do a little countdown to the water running down. The biggest thing for me is I didn't like the food options at that resort........ My kids LOVED the slide though. Not too big & a little jaguar that spits- perfecto!

Great updates..thanks for sharing!

Cass
That would be me

Well hello there Cass!!:cutie: Fancy meeting you here.:rolleyes1
My name is Mike...but you can call me Underdog.:cool2::rotfl:

Hope you guys dont mind if we join you on the cruise part of this trip..We'll sure try and help make sure it does'nt s#ck. Of course being that we cruised with guys a few times already...perhaps Robin and i were part of the s#ck factor.popcorn::..Or maybe just Robin..:duck::lmao:

I recall a classic Kira meltdown on Castaway Cay one cruise..Too funny! (for us anyway) My dad would always say "you gotta pay your dues".

Looking forward to reading about your planning.:surfweb:
I'm sure it will make the cruise wait easier. :sail:

Sorry guys, been dealing with some health issues...ended up at the Emerg yesterday :guilty:

I will try to update this weekend :thumbsup2

Yes, meltdowns from Crazytown :lmao: Thanks for the hug! And no, to scrapping your Africa trip :rolleyes1 It's taken me 4 years to do mine :rotfl2:

Yeah, I tried not to take any meltdown pics but I do have a few of them, maybe the meltdowns will get it's own SB page :rotfl:

I do a regular photobook (just pics, not SB'd) for every year and then I scrap our trips. There's no way I could keep up to all my pics for scrapping! :faint:

Hi

Love the planning part :cool1: I don't dislike the southwest theming, but it's not my fave. I prefer WL or AKL or Poly or Contemp :thumbsup2

Thanks! My hubby is really good about making sure he takes the camera every now and then to get a few pics of me :goodvibes He's a keeper! ::yes::

We have a home server set up for mine and Rob's computer and I keep all my SB stuff on there. Another good idea is just using an external hard drive to keep all the SB stuff on :thumbsup2

I also remeber that trip ( from your TR ) but OMG how talented you are ( scrapbook ) wow !! beautiful I won t show you mine they don t half compare those make wonderful souveniers .

LOL, thanks! It looks like I am more talented than I actually am though :rolleyes1

WOW....just WOW!!!!

:rolleyes1

Happy Birthday Cass!!!::

Wow, sounds like we are very similar creatures :goodvibes

I need to check out your PTR!

You GOTTA come up with some new lines dawg

Well, you guys were also on our 2005 cruise and that was our best cruise ever soooooo....I'm pretty sure it's not you guys

And this one is NOT gonna suck ;)

I remember that meltdown on the beach but can't remember what it was about?? What is about taking her meds??? :confused3

I hope you are feeling better today! Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Thanks Karin
I still have some tests to run :worried:

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo-YAH

So, we have a 6-year old little princess....

You just KNOW that we are gonna do the BBB, right?

Originally I was just going to do the BBB Crown Package on the Disney Fantasy but then I started thinking that this might be our last trip where Kira really believes in "The Magic" and so I added a couple things to our Disney World part of the trip.

Sooooo.....

We are going to do the Crown Package inside the Castle, on the same day we dine in the Castle and then the The Pirates League - Empress Package on the ship.

For the Castle one, we are going to bring that Aurora costume that I bought Kira and surprise her with it when we get to BBB and maybe buy her some princess shoes, depending on how practical they are. The ones they sell at our local store are not very practical but I've seen some of the ones at BBB and they look much more park-friendly

This kinda works out well because we are keeping BBB a surprise so we will keep her Rapunzel dress for either Halloween Night or the second time we go to MK.

She also has a Cinderella dress that we bought her 2 years ago that still fits her so we might pack that too and wear it to the Princess Storybook Breakfast princess:

For the Pirate BBB, I chose that one because she will already have the princess experience and I wanted to do something different for the cruise. She already has a pirate costume that I bought her in May 2011 pirate: so that kind of works out too :goodvibes

So now here's the thing...

I have searched and searched all over the interwebs and I cannot find a single BBB experience where the girls' hair is short!

I've seen some photos of a girl who has short-ish hair but still long enough to easily put into a pony tail.

Kira has CRAZY curly hair! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE her gorgeous natural little curls but it's a lot of work! When she is fresh out of the bath or shower, they are ridiculously cute

The problem is that 98% of her baths are taken just before she goes to bed and once she sleeps on her curls they go KUH-Razy!!!

:lmao:

Which is why we usually keep her hair quite short like this

and this

She also hates me brushing her hair and has huge meltdowns with the tiniest tangle in her hair! So, we have decided (and she agrees!) to keep her hair pretty short. I think she looks super cute in a short 'do and it's so much easier to manage!

Having said that, we are going to try to grow it out a bit for Disney. At least enough to be able to put a small pony tail I guess. But if you look at BBB photos, most girls have really long, thick hair.

Funny enough, I've told her that we are growing her hair out for Disney and she never even asked me why :lmao:

I'm going to make a special BBB invitation in Photoshop to give to Kira. Not sure when I will give it to her, I will have to think more on that :scratchin

So there you have it....thoughts? Ideas? Pics of short haired girls at BBB? :rolleyes1

If they can get a small ponytail on the top half, they can work with it. You know like the half head pony tail thing. If it's still too short, then they can at least gel her up and sprinkle the heck out of her, but I bet in the next 6 months or so you can get at least the top part long enough for a short half pony. No she probably can't do the bun style with that, or not as easily, but they should be able to do one of the extension styles.
Did you look through the 2 BBB threads? I know at one time I saw some pretty short hair, though I don't think quite as short as her hair is now. But they will do their best to do something special for her.

You need to take it easy and take care of yourself too. I am worried about you!

Omygosh, the crazy curl pictures are too cute! :lmao: I've got some curl myself, so I totally understand about the management issues. I straighten my hair most days to keep it under control, but as soon as it gets wet, all bets are off.

Hope you are feeling better soon!
