In your opinion, which ride is scarier / harder to ride? Rock n Rollercoaster or DLP Space Mountain? Besides going upside down, how different is SM at WDW from DLP?

I haven't ridden on Space Mountain in DLP in a long time, but I remember it being a much, much, much smoother ride than the Space Mountain in WDW. I also liked it much more than RnR in HS, but that could have been the themeing. I think it's also a longer ride, but I'm not sure if that's just because the loading/acceleration occurs differently. The acceleration occurs going uphill DLP versus it going along a flat (pretty much right away) on RnR. I think RnR is shorter and easier, but very comparable in terms of how "tough" it is to ride. I LOVE Space Mountain in WDW, but these days it hurts my back a little bit--it's a lot of fun and the effect that you're going to "hit" the track as you swerve in and around it is very thrilling around what is otherwise a pretty tame coaster--but it's not really smooth at all. I think it's also much longer.

(I'd say that if you're OK with coasters going upside down then you can do RnR. Aside from the flat acceleration, it's a very typical roller coaster, kind of like the one you'd do at any amusement park if it's your first "upside down" coaster.)

SM is a roller coaster ride with 3 inversions including a corkscrew- it also knocks your head about something terrible - and it's the fastest of them all

I've been on the RnR at WDW, I was curious how SM at DLP compared as far as speed, turns, etc.

Yeah, must have been my youth coloring this memory for me. (I was probably a senior in high school when I rode it.) I remembered it being quite smooth and a fabulous ride.

I was at MK in February and rode SM for my first time in years. I thought it was going to be a lot worse then it was...

I did both last week in DLP and far preferred RnRC. SM is way too bumpy, your head gets knocked about side to side. I can't comment on anything else for SM as my eyes were closed for the whole thing where on RnRC I was happy enough to watch and even enjoyed it a bit.

I prefer Space Mountain, the theming, music and acceleration are all amazing, though it is a bit of an ear basher (I lean forward so my head is out the headrest), whatever you do don't wear earrings. It's much faster and rougher than WDW.I rode the WDW one after Paris and found it a bit lame really, it's just an advanced version of a funfair sled ride really.

RnR at WDW is basically the same ride in DLP except the props and decorations around the track are different. The storyline is different,
I think WDW you have to ride the limo to the Aerosmith show and the Paris one is a bit meta and they're designing an Aerosmith coaster.

If you can handle the super fast acceleration at the start of RnR then that's by far the easiest ride of the two.

I don't to attractions that go upside down, but my other half does. ;) He always says to me that if I ever decide that I want to try it sometime, it should be in RnR. It's very smooth, so you don't even notice going upside down. As for SM, I hear a lot of people complaining that it's quite rough. It shakes your head quite a lot.

I prefer RnR by about a million miles. I always seem to hurt my neck/ears/head on SM... the ride is so much rougher, you really get thrown about. Whereas I can really enjoy RnR without having to put so much constant effort into holding my head/neck firmly in place so I don't get hurt.

Have to agree with the knocking you head about, does this badly to me and my ears get bashed about terribly but I do love the ride and find RnR does the same just not quite as badly

Back in 2013 we were in the queue for SM and it broke down right before we got on. I think because I couldn't see the track it put me off a lot. RnR at least I could, I enjoyed the music too

I thought the recent refurb was supposed to improve the roughness of SM!?

I believe the 2017 refurb is supposed to include new trains which might help as well.

It's the 2017 refurb which see it being made much smoothier, this one has put back the special effects like the smoke from the cannon and they've made a single rider entrance but that's about it
