Hello WISHers!!

Know there are several of us doing the Inaugural RnR Chicago Half on Sunday Aug 2nd so figured it was time to start a thread.

This is taking the place of the CDC and from prelim course info, looks like it'll go thru the city instead of just along the lakefront.

Post here if you're attending and I'll keep the listing.
We can figure out where to do a pre-race meet when get a little closer and know when folks are coming in.

Attending
Liz (twoWDWfools) & Patrick (tiggerspal222)
Pat (WDWFAN9) and Jim (jims2cool)
Susie (escape) and DH Steve
Julie (OHJulie) and DS

Liz,

I have never did Chicago in August, as I am concerned about the heat plus going through downtown (?) I will look into the details :upsidedow http://www.rnrchicago.com/

I am registered for the Crim 10-miler in Flint on August 22nd...

Jim (jims2cool) and I are already registered.

We've done the event the last three years when it was the CDC. Surprisingly the heat didn't bother us (we are walkers so we are out there awhile)......the first two years the course started off between the tall downtown buildings so that we were in the shade, and then ended along the lakefront with the cool breezes. The course last year was a little different, but it is being changed for RnR and the website says we will see some of the downtown sites, so I am figuring it will be more like the course from a couple of years ago. One thing to keep in mind, unlike all the other RnR halfs that I've done/planned-to-do Chicago has a 3.5 hr timelimit.

It would be awesome to have a group of WISHers like we did in 2007 (not that 2008 wasn't fun too)! The more-the-merrier!

Remember this is an INAUGURAL race!! But put on by the very experienced RnR crew and the free concert is following the race.

Use the penguin code ROLLBACK to save $15 off registration.

My son and I are registered for this race. It will be my first half marathon! I just started running a year ago, so I am excited to be able to "go the distance!"

My training was going well up until a couple of weeks ago when I started having shin pain - I have decreased the mileage for the last couple of weeks and the pain is subsiding, so hopefully I can get back on schedule this week.

I see that the race is now sold out except for Charity runners. Should be fun!!

Julie

As much as I'd love to that race will have to wait till next year. Funds and family issues are rabid around that time.

Good luck everyone that's going.

Sad Panda:hippie:

MIke and I where going to sign up for this, but apparently waited too long, it is sold out:eek:

My DH and some of our family will be running. DH is hoping for a PR on this route (sub 1:20) the boys and I will be cheering:cheer2:!

I'd love to but have a wicked bad stress fracture and still in a boot now. :sad2:

Wow! I didn't realize it had sold out already. Yikes! I better hurry up and sign up for the Las Vegas RnR before it sells out.

Amy, sending :wizard: for your foot!

John (Space Ranger) & I are registered. Looking forward to a pre-race WISH meet.

Only 4 1/2 weeks to go! :cool1:

Mike and I wanted to do this race so bad and waited to long to register, if anyone knows anyone who can not use their bibs, please let me know.

Kim

Thanks:hug: Now just need the registrations...:headache:

I checked a few of the charity ones and you need to raise alot of money and pay for the regitration and with only a month to go...can't happen.

My fingers will stay crossed. That is a long weekend in Canada so would work out perfect

PAT!!!! Don't forget to take an older race goody bag for post race :thumbsup2 I was going to remind you for the Seattle one and forgot

KAREN! Where have you been? I haven't seen you or John about (grant I do tend to go walk-about) and was getting worried!

Woohooo the race is next weekend!!!! Not going but sending tons of big WISHes for a great time for all!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks for the reminder Diane...I actually forgot in Seattle. But Jim will have me covered in Chicago!!
