riverside room near river

Hello:

We are going to the riverside resort, but would like a room near the river, do we need to go to the alligator bayou portion or are any mansion buildings near the river.

The Mansions would be a better bet if you want to be by the river.

I have booked water view rooms at POR and find they are not worth it. Usually you are not right ON the river front and most of the time the views are obstructed. I dont think it's worth the extra money. There are no balconies at moderates so it really makes no difference where you are IMHO

I have to agree with the PP, riverview rooms at POR or POFQ are not worth it. I've had one, while it was quiet you really don't sit outside to enjoy the view.

We had a room right "on the river" in the mansion section...We requested water view and it was fully obstructed :

so, though we didn't stare at a parking lot, we didn't fully have a water view.

I will still always pay for a water view since I have had the misfortune a few times of looking out my windows at cars..

Thanks everyone.

I need to be away from any type of fumes like parking lots etc. My daughter gets migraine headaches at the least bit of fumes, cigarette smoke etc. She can be sick for a week after being exposed to these things. I am hoping to not pay for a water view but get as close as possible to the river side or treed area in a standard room.

P.S. The negative ions from a river etc, are supposed to help prevent migraines also.

Be sure to add that to your room request. I'd also follow it up with a fax to the room assigner 4 days before departure and be sure to include your daughters issues in it. There are rooms that don't have parking lot views that are not water view rooms.

We were in room 8051 in May of 2007...standard room but when you looked out the window you could see shrubs and a small bit of the river...this was the Acadian House by the way. I felt it was a great location...close to a bus depot and a short walk to the main pool...maybe a 3-4 minute walk to the foodcourt but through lush grounds so I did not mind the walk at all (even with 3 kids in tow!)...what ever you decide have fun and EAT MUCH!!

Great advice. Also tell the Cast Member about your needs WHEN you check-in.I have had GREAT success with making room requests during the actual check-in process.This is a medical issue and I am sure WDW will accommodate you to the best of their ability.
