Me and my DH are planning on going for F&W festival we love moderates  and have stayed at CSR :worship: & CBR so do we try a new resort and stay at a place that looks like home or do we Upgrade it would be a challenge to do this (ebay a few thing may be a yard sale and we could swing it) Pick our favorite CSR or downgrad and try a value again the busses turned us off the first time we stayed at one?

Thanks for all your help on this one its been driven me crazy :upsidedow :upsidedow

I would say FQ if you are going to do a PO hotel. We have said it many times on here IMHO POFQ is a hidden gem. The atmosphere there is very compatible with both families & couples. It is quite a romantic resort. We chose it for our honeymoon after falling in love with it last May. The food court there is great, especially breakfast & loved the Beignets :teeth:
A walk or carriage ride along the riverside is a very romantic way to close a day.
The transportation is good there too. Buses were quick and there is a boat to DTD (great scenery!!). I do not think having lived in New Orleans would take away from the great atmosphere here. It is more of a nostalgic New Orleans. Hope that helps with your decision. If you have any particular questions we'd be happy to answer them.

BTW we will be there for the F&W fest too.....we are looking forward to it :Pinkbounc

I would say to stay at CSR or CBR again then. Why downgrade if you dont have to and I wouldn't suggest staying at POR or POFQ if its going to look like home to you. Good luck deciding! :teeth:

I lived in NO about 13 years ago....and FQ reminded me so much of it. But you will be exposed to Mardi Gras in the food court (nostalgic for me....could be a non-disney feel to you).

Is it possible to split your trip---try value for half and then upgrade to FQ....or upgrade and split between two moderates--half at FQ than on to your favorite CSR.

I love FQ--but it has been many years since I lived in NO so I can't offer a sound opinion as a current resident.

If I were you I'd just do CBR or CSR again. Or maybe try for a discount at WL and AKL. They can be as low as $129. Or if you really want to try something new and save money go for Pop. It's really fun and not much different than a moderate. :)

I live right outside New Orleans and our favorite resort is PO Riverside. We love the buildings, the food court, and the price. It does remind me of home in some senses but in other ways it doesn't. It's quiet, spread out and very relaxing. I have never had interest in POFQ because frankly I run from Mardi Gras. I does look very nice, but on visits just a little to close to home. I'm sure it is as great of a resort as riverside, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Hope I helped you. any questions just ask

We are also from the New Orleans area and so far our favorite resort is POR. We just got back from WDW and took a walk through POFQ; we were really impressed with it. It has that home feel but with the magic of Disney. We are planning a short trip in September and plan to stay at POFQ for our first time. I don’t think you could go wrong with POR or POFQ.

I lived in Laplace, La, (NO area) for 5 years so POFQ brings back memories for me!! It's NO with a touch of Disney!

If you really want to try something new...rent from a DVC owner. We just did this and stayed at OKW which was awesome! It was so inexpensive. Weekend stays are more expensive so if your stay involves a weekend, stay at POR - mansions and then switch over to the DVC resort on Sunday night. There is a whole thread on this subject here on the Dis boards. Just a thought! I don't like to stay at the same place either - lol!

wow thanks for some great ideas will let everyone know what we choose  Work plans are still not finalized so we haven't booked yet :confused3

Another NO native. We will be staying in POR. I didn't want POFQ because I didn't want the Mardi Gras theming. I have enough of that. I think the POR is a great way to feel at home in a comfortable, southern atmoshpere without being immersed in home (if that makes sense). I like having the choice between plantation-type rooms and more rustic rooms in POR. I love the grounds that don't look so manicured, but more real. The river and horse-drawn buggy are available in both. I like the fishing hole at POR, too.

I've stayed at CSR and didn't like it too much. Not my style. No hectic and bright and loud. I looked at the CBR and it felt too much like CSR. I'm looking forward to a resort with a more relaxed, laid-back feel.
