Rivers of Light vs Skipper Canteen/MVMCP

My youngest daughter (24) and I decided to go to WDW for Veterans Day weekend. Mostly interested in pandora and food and wine. Was planning on Epcot Friday and then animal kingdom on Sunday to take advantage of seeing rivers of light with a day of rest in between. Just discovered that mvmcp is starting that weeekend so if we went to it on Sunday (got adr at skipper canteen for 4:30) we would need to go to animal kingdom on Friday when there is no rivers of light. We went to mvmcp when the kids were young--loved the lack of lines. Is rivers of light not to be missed?

IMO, rivers of light is skippable. The show is nice to look at, and a bit romantic, but it lacks a strong story. It is pretty...but not as pretty as MVMCP.

RoL is just ok. Nice to see but not a trade off for MVMCP. 5 hour party with special parade, fireworks, characters and snacks is way better.

I would skip Rivers of Light. MVMCP is much better!

Another vote for skipping ROL. Just an FYI - the party you want to attend will most likely be a sell out. And it seems that Disney is selling more tickets to the parties than they used to. It will be a much different experience from the party you remember. Still enjoyable, but there will be many more people at the party and there will be lines for everything.

I don't know if I am allowed to mention this, but there are several videos of ROL in its entirety on Youtube. Absolutely not the same as in person, but at least you can see it!!!

HAVE FUN! I would go with the party as well!!!! Christmas is so special!

Many think Disney hasn't made any final decisions yet on AK for the late fall and winter months. The closing time for AK seems early, there are no evening EMH, and as you see here, ROL isn't showing every night. We're hoping that all three of those things are updated as time gets closer.

As I said above, there is still a chance that ROL will show every night and you can still catch it on Friday night. Keep an eye out.

It is currently nightly. Unless the future schedule changes for September on, then RoL will be done Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. It was done like this earlier this year when it debuted and looks like it might be going back to almost every other day.

However I think all the hours haven't been updated yet and that they'll continue RoL nightly. But those planning should plan around what they currently see posted
