Rise of the Resistance BOARDING GROUPS Superthread Part 2 *No Ride Spoilers Please* *PLEASE READ POSTS 1-3*

We are taking a break from the ROTR mayhem today . Got it 2 days in a row now . It’s a MM at DL anyway today , so figure we would skip the stress this morning , lol .
So far , both of our experiences this week (Sun and Mon) were great , all show scenes were working , cast members were fantastic . Luckily we had an early boarding group yesterday , and dodged the jawa interference . Time for a break today !

We are staying at GCH. I was in line around 7:10, had no line at the hotel for security. Gates opened around 7:40? Give or take a few, EMH/MM lines were half way across the plaza when i walked back to the hotel immediately after scanning in. Now I’m waiting in the hotel.

Edit - got a really late sleep in start from the GC . Was NOT planning for ROTR this morning . Left the GC about 8:30 , jumped in MM line 19/20 about 8:45 which was pretty backed up . Line moved quickly and was through the turnstiles about 8:50 . Got through the rope with our room card , found our “spot” and figured we would try for a BG , since we were here anyway .
Wife got BG 18 ! Guess we are going to do ROTR 3 days in a row now ! 😂
HAVE to say , for all those worried about getting a BG , if you know what you are doing and follow this thread . It’s almost TOO easy !

9:10 and backups already out -- went faster than anticipated today. Interesting.
71 regular groups and not boarding yet --- :(

Come on folk!!!! :)

Backup groups lasted quite a while this morning, running out at 9:10 by my observation. Regulars were gone by 40 seconds in.

First backup is 71, so that's a little weird.

@WonkaKid reported a few days ago that there's a new version of the DL app available for download. I installed the update on my phone and the next morning, I did the whole "play along at home" thing for a ROTR boarding group.

Prior to this update, when I'd play along at home, I'd have to un-check our 2 1-day parking passes (which I pre-purchased). But now the DL app recognizes that the 2 parking tickets are not actual PERSON tickets, so they don't even show up as an option to select or un-select in the ROTR boarding group thing.

Anyways, just thought I'd share that info in case anybody is in the same situation.

I don't know about that - it's a MM and with one or two exceptions we traditionally don't see backups last longer than a few minutes on Tuesdays.

That's good to know.

I've noticed that since the update the app opens more slowly and takes a little longer to get into the "Find out More" screen, but I do have an older phone. Glad to hear that they've made some progress on that - hopefully it can also screen out special event tickets and the like.

Hmm...boarding started with group 10, as I feared when I saw 71 was the first backup. They are doing 61 regular groups today, down from the usual 71. Clearly yesterday's issues either will hamper capacity today or they don't feel confident that the attraction can stay up for a good portion of the day.

Hello! I just wanted to report on my first time experiencing Rise of the Resistance.

We arrived at the parking structure at 6am on Saturday Feb 29th (Leap Day), there were already quite a few people waiting to park so we were a little further back in the queue than I thought we would be.

They opened parking at 6:35am 85 Minutes before official park opening, and we paid the $15 for preferred parking. This allowed us to park right by the escalator and get ahead of some of the people that were ahead of us in the queue. We got through security and on to the tram fairly quick and arrived at the parks entrance at 7am.

There was an extremely long line at the far left gates that wasn't moving so we continued past that and went to one of the shorter lines in the center gate area and I was right under the monorail. By the time we got to the front of the line it was 7:13am and they asked us we are Disney hotel guests I said no and was told that this is the entry for early morning magic and extra magic hour only and we would have to get in on the far left side where that extremely long line was and was now a very extremely long line. Lucky enough a cast member came by right at that moment and changed the signs and informed everyone they are switching over for regular entry and we got in before most of those guests waiting in that long line.

We got in at 7:15am 45 minutes before official park opening and got to take a seat at one of the tables at the Refreshment Corner. My phone has an atomic clock feature built in so right as 7:59:54 rolled around I started the app clicked on the join boarding group button and... the map popped up..so I had to go back click it again and we got boarding group 69.

The ride for me wasn't a ride at all, it is truly an experience and it is absolutely amazing and worth everything you have to do to guarantee a boarding pass.

Well, looks like they are being conservative for a reason...we're down already...

We were there Saturday and I had just updated my app the day before. We have our Star Wars after hours event tickets in our account and they did not come up in our BG selection. That was nice, saved a few seconds not having to take them out. Baby steps...

I know this was mentioned in the prior superthread, but I apparently have the memory of a squirrel today.

With my luck, we'll get a BG at the same time we have a meal or the Cinderella Tea booked. Do we make our meal reservation FIRST and then beg the CM for boarding, or is it the other way around?

Typically, if the meal reservation isn't an event of some sort, then you honor the boarding group and they are flexible on the dining reservation. In the case that the dining thing is not flexible with regard to time, then typically they will be flexible with your boarding group. Since the Cinderella Tea is at a specific time, they'd likely tell you to just come back after. For the other dining res, they'll probably tell you to do ROTR and then go to the dining venue.

Bottom line, if it is looking like your boarding group is going to conflict with something, talk to a CM either at ROTR or your dining venue and they'll help you work it out.

For a regular restaurant, you’d prioritize the BG and then ask to alter the reservation. For the Cinderella Tea, you’d prioritize that and then they can take your BG later.
