Rise of the Resistance BOARDING GROUPS Superthread Part 2 *No Ride Spoilers Please* *PLEASE READ POSTS 1-3*

Noon. 60 groups called in 3 hours. Backups still available. All groups that have expired so far have been 1 hour return windows. Interesting.

Since I do not have an Android, but will be traveling with some Android users tomorrow, can you spell out what this means? Here is what it sounds like to me, so please correct me:
  • You are checking the impact on an Android phone of clicking the Find Out More (FOM) button before official park opening (OPO)?
  • Androids are behing differently now than before?
  • But it still messes up the app behavior, prevents you from getting a BG, and you have to restart the app, like before?
  • It is still not recommended to click FOM before OPO??
:wizard:
First point, yes - I am checking to see if things have changed regarding clicking FOM before OPO, as well as to see if the status refresh and/or MS/FOM cha cha has changed in effectiveness for Android.

Second point - it appears that they might be.

Previous behavior was that, for me, If I tapped into FOM and MS before OPO, I was locked out from both buttons until restart. If I tapped into FOM but not MS before OPO, and then tapped MS after OPO, I would usually get an active button in MS, but not when backing out to FOM.

New behavior observed today (and this is a single data point that I put no stock in) is that being in MS before OPO did prevent MS button from activating, and refresh was ineffective as before. However, backing out to FOM screen resulted in an active button, suggesting that a cha cha might be possible.

Third point - agreed that this is not an optimal approach.

Fourth point - That's my story and I'm sticking to it. My approach would be to tap on FOM at OPO. If button is active, use. If button not active, perhaps I tapped a fraction of a second too soon, so I will tap MS. If the button is active, use. If button not active, previously I would have closed the app right then and there, but based on the new data, I would spend the extra tap to go back to FOM to see if button has activated. If active, use, if not, exit app and start over.

71 has been called at 12:46 PM. This is the last regular group.

Backups finally out at 12:35

Groups called after 11AM appear to have a 2 hour return window, while groups called before 11AM appear to have had a 1 hour return window.

For the record ....... this whole week for us (4 rides in 4 days on ROTR ) , after waiting for exactly opening time (8 or 9 or even later ) , and then pushing the FOM tab , we NEVER got the red join boarding group to show ....... ALWAYS had to go in the back door through my status . iPhone 8 Plus and 7plus .

I don't want to derail the thread. Just to say in general terms: I think we are seeing effect of the headlines on the Park. It was noticeable yesterday (Wednesday) but even more so today. Peter Pan has been bouncing between 20-25 mins all morning. RSR is currently 30 mins at peak 1:15 PM with Fastpass returns of 4:05 to 5:05 PM.

Maybe someone there this week can comment further if there was a change in crowds after Tuesday. My point on backups and boarding groups flying through: Maybe they've made some operational changes. But if they have, it seems to be combined with a drop in crowds.

Question is: will it reverse substantially for Spring Break? Watching with interest. Sure wish we were going this weekend! Thanks for all the reports...

And...it looks like we're down at 71 for the last half hour. Hopefully the fast paced opening hours didn't wreck the system like it did on Monday. We were only slightly off Monday morning's pace.

It's a fair point. I think it impacts backups for sure, but once BGs are assigned, those people are there, so I still think that the rate of processing is mostly due to operational improvements.

I'm probably going for a few hours on Saturday morning, so I'll be able to compare it with last Saturday, when things were absolutely packed. It would not surprise me if attendance is down due to the virus.

The lines look pretty darn amazing today. I would be so excited if any of that hill true for next Monday and Tuesday, but guessing it’s mostly a fluke.

Coming up on one hour down. DHS went down for 40 minutes but is back up and at 122 with almost two hours to go...Would love to see them hit the 140s again.

I am for sure going Saturday for my first shot ever at ROTR. I recommend everyone else stay home where it is safe. :stir:
