Ringing in the New Year - Jan '12 TR - UPDATED Sept 4 I BROKE MY FOOT**

Just found your January 2012 trip report. We are headed to Disney January 2-8, 2013. I see you are from Canada and you mention that it was cold at night. I was hoping that when people said it was cold in the evening, it was people from warmer climates saying it was cold. Do you remember how cold? When we went to Disney January 2009 we got away with layering but lately that doesn't seem like the case.

I don't know about the other two pins but the moose one is Melvin the Moose from the Country Bears Jamboree disney pin set.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for the other two pins though when I'm on the pin boards.

Thanks! We have a bunch of pins that we can't figure out what they are, and even after a few trips we still haven't found a cast member who can name them. You found that pin so fast, we are impressed.

Thanks for joining in Mickeyplanner!
It was usually 27 degrees F with the wind-chill when we were getting ready to go in the morning. At night it was even colder because there was no sun. We ended up packing it in way earlier than we usually do because it was so cold we couldn't stand it anymore. Later on in the TR there will be some pictures of just how bundled up we were; but I have the feeling a parka would not have been enough some nights.

I think this one is from Disneyland's World Of Color...

It kinda looks like this guy, right?

I think I found this one too! The color isn't really the same, but everything else looks right. It says it's stone Mickey ears from the Poly.

OMG double thanks, we were so excited about the first one I didn't even scroll down to see that you have discovered all of them.
Awesome!! At least now we know what we are trading, we didn't want to lose a goodie

CHAPTER 7 – MOSEY ON BACK, ITS CHOW TIME!

We checked in at the desk at 7:05 for our 7:35 reservations, we were starving again and it is amazing how fun can make you sooo hungry. We waited for a little in the lobby and snapped some festive seasonal pics.

We waited for only 15 minutes and then we heard the most delicious sound ever....

“Mosey on back, its chow time!”

We made a beeline for the front desk and were seated in the back of the restaurant between the fireplace and the kitchen.

Sassy Sara was our waitress and she was fabulous and fun. She thought I was kind of weird because I was taking pictures of everything including the table receipt.

She took our orders, obviously we settled on the all-you-can-eat skillet of yummyness. I ordered a cherry coke because, well cherry is a fruit and I thought that would be the healthiest choice (kidding). Danielle got a diet coke because she needs all the energy she can get.

First the salad and corn bread arrived and they were both so sweet and tasty we would have been happy with just that.

Then the most delicious collection of meat arrived and we were in awe.

Everyone’s favourite was the pulled pork it was smoky and sweet, we asked for seconds on the corn bread, salad, and pulled pork. After dinner we were too stuffed for dessert so we ordered 2 to go and 2 to share.

Danielle ordered the chocolate cake to go and we shared the apple pie

The rents ordered the cheese cake to go and decided on the bread pudding to share.

Sara surprised me by having the entire restaurant sing happy birthday to me; no one believed I was turning 26. Note the cheese face, that is what happens when I am smiling too much, the excitment gets to me.
After I blew out the candles, we stuffed ourselves with dessert.

We definitely needed a good walk after that meal, good thing the bus was leaving as soon as we pulled up because Danielle and I got in a good jog in to catch up with it. We caught the Wilderness Lodge bus back to Hollywood Studios and then to our hotel. The bus that showed up at HWS was a Flynn Ryder bus and Danielle nearly lost her mind, she was super stoked.

When we got back to the room Danielle went for a shower while I went with the rents to get our refill beverage cups, Danielle got blue and I got pink. The women at the counter was so nice, when I checked out with our cups she noticed my birthday button and gave me a free mickey swirly straw to go with mine  my own little piece of Disney pixie dust.

We were so tired from our cross county travels that we went to bed after we were clean, we needed all the energy we could get for our next day at EPCOT.

That is cold for January weather. Nothing like our 2009 trip. I am hoping for similar weather in 2013 as we had in 2009. Can't wait for you to post more about your trip. Were the Osborne lights still going and GF Gingerbread house?

It was so cold; I believe it was a "cold snap" for Florida. It was shocking coming from Windsor, who at the time was experiencing an unseasonably warm winter. The Osborne lights were still up when we were there and they were stunning; however, the GF gingerbread house was not. We will post tons of pictures our Dad took of the lights later.

subbing - really enjoying reading along :) Love all the photos! Sorry it was so cold :/

It was a beautiful resort during the holidays, you are going to love it .
They have pointsettas everywhere durings December, you can't help but feel Christmasy when the resort is decorated so beautifully. I don't think we took any pictures of those, if I remember correctly due to frost they ended up switched the flower beds over halfway through because alot of plants were dying since it was so cold.

Joining in! Our next stay will be at POR so I enjoyed the pics! Also, I have the same Gray Mickey Sweatshirt as you :thumbsup2

I'm joining in too. popcorn:: We're just up the 401/403 from you guys in Hamilton. :flower3:

BTW, my 6 yr. old son thinks your sister is really cute so if it doesn't work out with her DBF and she doesn't mind being a cougar.....:rotfl:

I'm joining in! I'm glad you figured out what all of those pins were. I hope your dad started to feel a little better while on the trip. We happened to be in Disney in January as well about a week after you. It was super cold and we weren't expecting that kind of weather either :headache:

Reppin Canada on the DIS!
Haha I'll have to let Danielle know; they've been going strong for more than six years now so I don't know about his odds but there's always hope:love:
We've actually been staying at our condo in Toronto lately (well staying more than often now that it's summer time) So we're even closer to you!
It's always nice to meet a fellow Canadian on here; thanks for stopping by!

We are too! There's a few more pins that we have no idea about; perhaps we'll post them later on.
Dad actually ended up being the one who wanted to stay out late in the freezing cold weather despite him feeling crazy so his Disney spirit pulled him through!:smickey:
I don't think anyone was prepared for it to be that cold... well, except for the one lady we saw in a head-to-toe Canada Goose jacket; we were all pretty jealous of her warmth.
Thanks for dropping in, we're happy to have ya join us!

I'm Canadian too! :thumbsup2 I've been living in the Chicago for 9 years, but I was born and raised in Alberta. When the Olympics come in July, we will be a house divided ;)

Oh we know all about that being so close to Detroit, we always have US friends coming over for sporting events, the ultimate divide :rotfl:.
Our parents were just in Calgary last week they said it was beautiful.

We have always wanted to visit Chigaco, I really want to go to the aquarium, maybe this summer will be our chance.
