Riding Monorail in Front in Morning?

Hey! We have ressies for Chef Mickeys at 9 am on a Saturday in late August. Now we plan to finish eating at around 10:15-10:30. We then plan to spend the rest of our day at Typhoon Lagoon, which is open until 6:30 that evening. Now here's my idea. After eating breakfast, I want to ride the monorail in the front. I assume that there won't be a long wait because it will be mid-morning and most people are already at MK (which opens at 9 anyway). Will we be able to go upstairs and while at the Contemporary ask them if we can? Also, will we have enough time at Typhoon Lagoon considering it is our first time there? Thanks! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

I don't know if you will be able to ride in the front or not. I stayed at the Contemporary last year with my son, and we only got to do it once. The lines for the monorail at the Contemporary is almost always long. It's hard to get in the front anyway. But still ask, some people don't know about it. Also, you may have a hard time at Typhoon Lagoon. It fills up quick and you shoudl get there at opening.

I have been to Disney 15 times, and never have been able to get the front. We are never there during peak times.. Always Sept, Oct, mid Jan, 1st week in Feb... very off peak... no luck :sad2:

You go to the CM at the front of the monorail and ask if you can ride. If nobody else has asked yet, then you should be the next family(usually only four people at a time) If someone else has asked, then they will say that you are welcome to wait, behind "this family", or there may be more than one family. You just take you chances and ask each time you plan to ride the monorail. Good luck!

That is bad luck. We almost always make it once (and once we've done it in a trip, we don't do it again - we tell our kids they've had their turn). It sometimes takes a few days before we time it right, but generally, its when we are heading to the monorail off peak hours - often going from the MK to Epcot mid day (the to Epcot front of the monorail is my husband's favorite). If we see a monorail pulling in, we dally a bit to get up to the top as it is pulling out and ask if no one is waiting already.

The resort hops are harder, we've only managed that once.

Last year there were 2 families yelling for a CM to notice them to get up front. My dd said to my son"Hey look D it is finally the orange one your favorite!" When the monorail stopped and they opened the gate- the other 2 families were held back and they called us out-then a cm that had overheard the conversation between my children- led us to ride up front in his "favorite" monorail. It was some unexpected Disney Magic and the kids loved it. That was our lucky monorail trip. :cheer2: :cheer2: for the kind CM.

Wow, 15 times...

We were just there on our first trip to WDW, during Spring Break/Easter week, during peak hours, and rode up front twice. It all depends on your luck, I guess. Sometimes nobody but you wants to "co-pilot", other times you're left in coach. I suppose dem's da breaks!
