We are first timers and will be taking our nearly 3 year old and our 14 month old. Are there any rides that we can all go on together.

Which rides would you recommend for my nearly 3 year old- he is about 38 inches tall so I know there is quite a lot he wont be able to do.

He has never been on a ride before so I have no idea what he is going to think of it all!

thanks for your help

Lots for all of you. For the most part the 14mo won't know what's going on. It's more the 3yo that may be scared of some rides.

Dark rides like those in Fantasy land may be a problem. Or rides that are fast like Pirates down the waterfall or Mr. Toad. Jungle cruise, the railroad, It's a small word, and pooh, are pretty safe bets for anyone and you can all go.

Wow, I couldn't possibly name all the rides you can take both kids on! Anything in Fantasyland, Small World, Carousel(s), Toy Story Mania, Nemo, Buzz Lightyear, Astro Orbiters, just about everything in Bug's Land, Ferris Wheel, Jungle Cruise, just to name a few. Our DS's first trip was at 8 months (it was WDW, but whatever) and he went on tons of rides!

At 38", your 3 year old is tall enough to go on the smaller coasters. Sill too short for Soarin', but that's really the only ride I can think of that he's too short for that you'd want to take a 3 year old on anyway!

Check out the attractions and rides on the Disney website and you can get an idea of what they have. Anything with a height restriction will say so.

Have a great time planning - and I know what both your kids will think of it - they will LOVE it!! :)

Good point on the scare factor. I was assuming they wouldn't be taking their young kids on anything that seems scary. I laugh at how many people say (with surprise) their 2 and 3 year olds were scared on Snow White's SCARY Adventures.

The 14 month old will probably love just taking it all in - balloons, parades, etc. And there are tons of great rides for them too. Playhouse Disney will be a hit with both of them for sure!

My kids, when they were those ages, totally loved rides like the Storybook Land Canal boats, the Casey Junior train, Dumbo...ones that didn't have a height requirement and they just loved the "experience" of the whole thing.

Friends of ours just got back from taking their 4/just turned 5 while they were there daughter. She was petrified of all of the "scary" rides, even Gadget's Go-Coaster, Space, Splash, etc. But she loved Small World, the Bug's Land rides, and the Storybook rides.

We have taken our kids when they were similar ages, you can see our trip reports at the bottom for what the kids liked on past trips, I havent done one for our most recent trip yet. On our most recent trip in April our kids were 5, 3, and just turned 1. As for rides all four of you can ride in the same seat, that limits the list but usually we just split into two little groups. Our 3 yr old ds's favorite rides are Pirates, Buzz, the Sun Wheel, and Autopia. Our 1 yr old ds's favorite rides were Jungle Cruise, Its a Small World, and Toy Story Mania, he cried through anything dark and/or high. He was much easier when we took him at 6 months old. My best advice for taking little kids is NAPS during the day and watch the rides on YouTube so you know what they might be scared of before you get there. Have a great trip!!

I forgot about these two, which the whole family can ride together on. Also of course the Monorail, Main Street Vehicles the boats in the river of america.

Somebody mentioned the Carousel.

I'd say the Nemo's submarine ride but it may be a little touchy for the 3yo.

Taking a small child 3-5yo can be an experiment if nothing else. You may not know how they feel about the dark, unseen falls or moving in way that feels out of control until you are there. The same goes with meeting characters.

thanks for all your responses.

yes I totally don't know how he is going to react to characters either- he is just going through this phase where he is worried about monsters eating him - not great timing!!! he does have a little Minnie Mouse though which he loves so hopefully seeing her will be a highlight for him!

The 14 month old will love it all I reckon- he has yet to develop fear and would probably go on anything!!
