My daughter (23) and I are having a girl's only trip the first week of December and plan to visit US/IOA. I don't do coasters and have motion sickness issues. What rides will I be able to do?

First of all, I recommend that you take Meclazine (Bonine, less drowsy dramamine). It helps tremendously with motion sickness. I get severe motion sickness without it. With it, I can ride pretty much everything except the most spinny of rides.

At IOA you can ride The High in the Sky Trolley, Cat in the Hat (spins a few times but not enough to cause sickness), Poseidan's Fury, Sinbad Show, Jurassic Discovery Centre, Ollivander's Wand Shop experience, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Spiderman, DUdley Do RIght Ripsaw Falls, Popeye and Bluto River raft ride.

At Universal you can ride Dispicable Me, Shrek, Twister, Disaster, ET, Animal Actors Show, Terminator, Transformers. Men in Black has a few spinny sections.

I would skip the Simpsons as well as the spinning flat rides unless rides such as Dumbo don't cause you issues.

Just how sensitive are you to motion? Is it just actual motion, or does the implied sensation of motion also get to you?

If you eliminate coasters and the heavy motion rides you really aren't left with much, to be honest.

You should be able to take in things like Twister, MiB (depending on how sensitive you are), Shrek and the various shows.

Here's a ride list:

Revenge of the Mummy® COASTER
MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack™ SOME SPINNING
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster KIDDY COASTER
The Simpsons Ride™MOTION
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit® COASTER
E.T. Adventure
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem MOTION (but stationary seating is available)
TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D MOTION

Jurassic Park River Adventure® BIG DROP
Pteranodon Flyers®
Dragon Challenge™ COASTER
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls® -DROPS
Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges® SOME SPINNING
Incredible Hulk Coaster® COASTER
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® MOTION
Doctor Doom's Fearfall NOT A COASTER, BUT SHOOTS YOU STRAIGHT UP
The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ MOTION
Flight of the Hippogriff™KIDDIE COASTER

I'm not sure how much value you would get out of this visit.

I don't ride big coasters because I don't care for the drop feeling in my stomach that I get. Implied motion bothers me. I can handle jerky movements better than soft.

I can ride most things at WDW. I would stay away from Space Mountain, Everest, Mission Space, Soarin, Tea Cups, Rockin Rollercoaster, and that other one in DS that drops you.

I'm going more for my daughter who wants to visit the Harry Potter section. I've looked for ride descriptions but the US/IOA site doesn't say much.

If you can't ride Soarin' then take out Spiderman and Transformers and Despicable Me and possibly even Shrek.

Can you ride Star Wars?

I'd avoid Men in Black, for sure! I didn't realize how spinny that was, and I was pretty miserable for about an hour or so. A coke afterward helped though. While I was waiting for my family, who did the ride again another day, the girls in the gift shop said people are always getting sick on that ride! And in the potted plants outside! After that I didn't take any chances. There's a stationary bench in the front of Despicable Me ride that was good for me. The rest of my family sat behind me! Also avoid Simpsons, from what I hear!

Can I go through the lines with my daughter and then exit before getting on the ride? I don't mind waiting outside, I've done that for years and enjoy people watching. Do they have single rider lines? She doesn't mind doing that.

Do they have signs that say a certain ride is not good for people who get motion sick?

Someone posted this and I found it very helpful. Of course, the park has to cover itself, but this gave me a much better understanding of the rides. Some rides have stationary seating, plus anything for pregnant women I also did.

To say the Forbidden Journey is a motion ride is such an understatement, LOL! There's motion, and then there is being thrown around on a broomstick!:lmao:

Yes, absolutely! I only rode the High in the Sky trolley when I went! But, I walked through every themed queue. When I got to the boarding area, I asked to be let out of the line and there was always an exit nearby. Since I was always carrying a bag, I usually was asked by a worker where I joined the line if I was riding and I told them no, just looking at the theming. Every time, they told me it was OK and just ask for the exit at the boarding area.

Thank you! That will definitely be helpful to me in determining in advance what I'll ride.

That's great!

If your daughter will be riding more of the rides, don't forget to utilize the single rider lines, will be much faster than the regular queue.

She'll definitely to that. Besides Harry Potter, the big ride on her list is the Transformers one.

I just realized I can't spell queue! It looks wrong.

Anyway, I have gone through the castle line 15ish times and LOvE it! Go through all the lines, they are wonderful.

I know for me, the regular Dramamine seems to work better than the Meclazine. Some people recommend taking it the night before so you sleep through any drowsiness. I normally start taking things a couple of days before hand so I have some built up in my system.

I keep Meclizine on hand because my seasonal allergies cause me to have vertigo sometimes. It will definitely be with me on my trip.
