Rides open during Fantasmic

We are planning to go to MGM just late afternoon/evening on our next trip, really just to ride TOT, RNRC and a few others. I was wondering, since we are not going to see Fantasmic, while that is on, can we still go on the rides or do they close when it starts? The opening hours for the park are 9-7.30 when we are there, with Fantasmic being on at 7.30. Surely the park doesn't close at 7.30 therefore. Could anyone tell me if we can squeeze in more ride time. Thanks

i havent been since they began fantasmic, but they never have closed anything in the past that ive known of. in fact, we used to bolt for the rides with usually long lines during the fireworks. the lines were nonexistant, and props to you for doing the same lol. ;)

If the operating hours have the park closing at the same time Fantasmic starts, then all the rides will be closed. If the closing time is after Fantasmic, then the rides will be open.

In the first case, after Fantasmic is over, they usher everyone to the turnstyles and you don't have the opportunity to go anywhere else in the park.

If the park closes at 7:30, the entry to the rides will close at 7:30. Anyone in line will at that time will be able to ride. You will not be permitted to enter a ride after closing time.

Every time we are MGM we go see Fantasmic, so I was wondering, do the rides open up a little after the gates open for Fantasmic?

On our last visit a few years back, we didn't go to Fantasmic and the rides were all clear from about an hour and a half bafore it started. I suppose everyone was getting there seats. It was great. We probably could have completed the whole park in that short time. We didn't as we repeated RNRC and TOT over and over again until we were sick! I just couldn't remember what happened once Fantasmic started, hence the orriginal question.

Last year, one time at MGM we didn't go and see Fantasmic (had already seen it that trip) and the rides were empty during the show! It was AWESOME!!!!!!! But right after the show, rides like The Tower of Terror were jammed because people got in line when exiting the Fantasmic show.

While we were there this past Feb. we didn't see Fantasmic, but about 30 min to an hour before the show started all the rides were mere 2-5 min waits. It was great. :thumbsup2

Hang on. Sunny here is saying that she went on the rides during Fantasmic, whereas a few others said if the closing time is 7.30 that is when the rides stop working. I now feel slightly confused  Can anyone else help me? Thanks

Sometimes the park closing time is later than the Fantasmic starting time. For example, next Tuesday Fantasmic start time is 9, but the park is open until 10. We will have already seen Fantasmic on Sunday night, so we plan to take advantage of that and spend that hour doing attractions while others are viewing Fantasmic. (Thanks to TGM for that tip! :thumbsup2 )
