Does Rider Swap exist at DL? If so, how does it work?

We have 1 child who is too short for a couple of rides both DH and I want to ride. 2 kids will be able to go on everything.

Yes. You'll want to go up to the entrance with all members of the party (including the child too young to ride) and ask for a child swap pass. Depending on the attraction, they sometimes give you a lanyard to hang on to (Tower of Terror) or just have you tell the CM right before boarding. The pass is a piece of paper with the date on it. Once you're done riding the second person can then enter through the FP line using the pass. I'm not sure of the amount of people that can ride per pass, but I'm pretty sure it's at least 3, so the two older kids can ride both times if they'd like.

It was three people last time we used it in August: the waiting person and 2 others.

Could someone verify the amount of people that can ride on a rider swap pass? I will be visiting with two DD (8) (6) and two twin DS (2). Can I ride with both daughters while wife stays with sons and then we swap where she rides with both daughters?

It will work just as you said. The pass is good for 3. I used it several times this past weekend.

Thank you. So where does the waiting party typically wait? Does it depend on the ride? When I return to our sons and wife, will my wife and daughters enter the fast pass line (with the rider swap pass) and wait behind those who are already in the fast pass line?

The waiting party can be anywhere. Another ride, grabbing a snack. Anywhere. The return ticket is good for up to three people and can be used anytime before the end of the day. We waited and used ours when it was dark so the kids were able to experience RSR both in the day and at night.

Thank you, so when you return later that day do you go to the FP line just like a normal FP?

Yes, when you return later in the day to use the Rider Swap pass, you will enter the FP line with the other FP guests.

Just to confirm, the Rider Switch Pass says "This pass allows up to THREE Guests readmission to: <attraction name>. Pass does not guarantee immediate boarding and must be surrendered when presented. All riders must meet boarding requirements. Valid only on date of issue. Not for sale." There is a place for attractions name, the date, and the initials of the CM issuing the pass to be filled out.

They'll tell you where to return. Not every ride with a height requirement uses FP. And sometimes it is faster to use single rider than rider swap. Indy is much faster to do SR. Matterhorn doesn't have FP, but single rider is fast. Splash and Goofy's Sky School are faster. RSR would depend on the length of the FP and SR queues. Soarin' SR usually doesn't save any time. I'm not sure about GRR.

I agree about the SRL in most cases, but Matterhorn has been (in my experience) the least consistent. I've had it be as fast as nearly walk-on, but other times I've had to wait over 30 minutes for the SRL (there hasn't been any consistency). So, it all depends on the distribution of guests in the regular line and how many guests are in front of you in the SRL. So the Matterhorn is one attraction where it's hard to say whether the SRL will be fast or not.

When we were there in October only once did they actually ask to see the whole party (including child who couldn't ride) at the begining of the ride. Every other time we just said we were doing a rider swap and they gave us the pass. The ride they did ask on was RSR... so the ride people would be most likely to abuse it with! Otherwise, we never had an issue and it was nice because sometimes our group was really split up across the park.
