I was just looking on youtube to see if I could get an idea of what the rides are like and if I should take my 4yo in them. Is wild arctic a ride in the dark? It looks neat that he could see animals but I am not sure how he would be if it was dark.

It looks like most of the rides say he can go on it with an adult. I am not sure if he will be quite to the 42 inch mark or not. I think he is about 36 or 38inches now and we are going in June.

What is pets ahoy? I saw that it is closed for refurbishment in May but I didn't sea anything else able what it was. Is it a show or a ride? Thanks.

Wild Arctic is a simulator ride. One of those where you watch a film and the 'vehicle' you're in is bounced along with it. There is a 42" height requirement on it, but you can opt for the non-motion version (you just sit on a bench and watch the film) at any height. After the ride, you enter the animal exhibit where they have belugas, polar bears, walrus, and occasionally some seals in with the belugas. It's not really /dark/, although it lighting inside is rather muted compared to the sunshine outside.

Pets Ahoy is an indoor show at the Seaport Theatre. It's a comedy of sorts, featuring trained animals.. cats, dogs, birds, pigs, rabbits, etc. Most of the animals have come from shelters or other rescue groups. It's a pretty fun and entertaining show, I'd recommend it! (Plus, it's indoors and air conditioned!) ;)

I would say he'll probably NOT be 42 inches. My son was barely 42 inches in his bare feet and they almost didn't let him on! He says to tell you that it was scary and he liked the movie better (I guess he doesn't get that it's the same thing!). But he also wants you to know that he'll be going again this summer because he's 5 and a big boy now. ;)

So I guess if you choose to scrape him by, he won't be scarred for life. But the animals in the exhibit are way cooler than the ride in my book, anyway, so it's not a big deal to skip the simulator.

Thanks for the info. I'm so glad to learn that we can watch the film while sitting still (bouncy rides are not good for my DD) and then see the animals. I wish more attractions at the other parks were like that.
