Ride Exiting Question

My son reminded me about this is the other day, and I thought I would ask.

I took my DS8 and DN on Test Track. DS8 uses a wheelchair.

When the ride was over, my son's chair was not waiting for him. We were told it was stuck in an elevator(?????) and they would bring it to us as soon as it was out.

I started to panic because I wasn't sure what to do with DS until the wheelchair arrived. The CM at the exit told me to exit the car and wait on the side for the wheelchair. She was pressuring me because there was a VIP group waiting to board. (I assume VIP because they were 3 men dressed in suits)

So I carried DS and held him until the chair arrived.

It was an uncomfortable situation, but I'm not sure what could have been done differently.

A similar situation happend on BTM but we were told just to ride again and we would end up where we boarded and the wheelchair would be waiting.

Any suggestions on what I should have done or should do in the future?

They should have just let you ride again until the chair arrived. They always ask us if we want to go again because of the trouble it takes getting in and out of the cars.

We usually ride a second time because it is hard to get DD into the ride car and she REALLY enjoys Test Track.

There is also another boarding/unloading area that can be used by people with disabilities. You have to ask for it and it involves the person in the wheelchair going up an elevator while the rest of your party walks up a flight of stairs. That takes you over the track so you will board and unload on the same side of the track and the wheelchair will stay where you left it.
Boarding is done there on the same level as the ride car - it's similar to getting into and out of a bathtub; that's the height of the side of the ride car. You board and get out of the driver's side of the ride car. The wheelchair will be waiting in that same spot when you get off; when you get to the normal boarding/unload area, let the CM know you have a wheelchair and your ride car will be sent straight thru to where you got on.

At least, if the elevator gets stuck, it would get stuck while your DS was still in it, before riding.

In July, we were almost always directed to enter TT through the exit, so the ecv was there waiting for us when we got off.
The one time we went through the stand-by line, we had to wait a long time for them to bring the ecv.

The elevator is fairly small.
Some of the ECVs are rather large and not manouverable enough to be easily brought up the elevator. That (plus needing a CM free to bring the ECV up the elevator) is why people using ECVs are often loaded on the exit side.
