Ride Closure Sadness :(

Finally get all our ducks lined up between various family members, etc, so that we'll be in Disneyland May 16th-20th, annnnnd... Monorail and Silly Symphony Swings will be closed. Both of which are big draws for my 5 year old, particularly the Monorail (which is ridiculous, because it's 2 minutes and basically the same idea as our local transit.)

Hopefully, your 5-year old will get a kick out of Casey Jr Circus Train and some of the other fun attractions while you're there. I understand the disappointment, but you can help him focus on the other stuff. :)

I am visiting the same time and was sad to see the monorail would be closed. I like it as a nice break from the day and getting a birds-eye few of both parks & DTD.

I am not a 5 year old, but was really bummed to find out the monorail was down for our trip next month.

On the bright side, Autopia and Jungle Cruise should be open again by then! I look at these times as opportunities to find new favorites. For example, my DS8 LOVES the train and is super bummed that it will be closed when we are there, BUT he says he is finally ready to try BTMRR...hoping he will love it as much as I do!

Also, you will get to try the new Luigi's ride!

I find it just doesn't do anyone any good to dwell on what is down - we just visited for our 4th time and had zero interest in riding the monorail as it was running - we also didn't ride IASW once. Others would be very upset if that were down. It's all about finding the stuff that is running and enjoying that. It is hard to find a day in the parks where everything is operational and it's not packed to the rims!

I will say, with no fear of retribution, if the only closures are Symphony Swings and Monorail than consider yourself lucky ;)

I would agree with this!
But unfortunately the list is much, much longer. :(

I also agree! We'll be there a few weeks before you and I'm bummed that in addition to the swings and monorail being closed, the Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise, Autopia, and Grizzly River Run will also all be down. Even so.. I know there will be tons to keep us (myself and my 7 year old DD) busy and entertained for the 5 days that we'll be there. I think learning about closures and an initial sadness is normal (especially if they're favs!), however.. I'm sure you'll still have a fantastic trip (and maybe even find some new favourites)! :earsboy:
