If a ride chicken was going to try and be brave, in what order should they ride the big boys? Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk and Dragon Challenge TIA :flower3:

Good question, and total personal opinion of course.

My personal opinion: Hulk, Dragon Challenge (either), then HRRR.

I like Hulk first for two reasons: the track is below you and you get the quick launch "indoors". When I was first taking on these things, I always felt more secure somehow on a normal non-inverted track. The launch happens quick, so you are largely spared the "why am I doing this?" moment that I still occasionally ask myself going up a conventional lift-hill.

Next up would be DC. Inverted is the next step to me. Looking down 100' or more and seeing nothing but your dangling legs could be disconcerting.

Lastly HRRR. It doesn't technically go upside down like the others, but man oh man am I uncomfortable going up that vertical lift-hill. I've done it exactly once, and might do it again when I'm in the right mood. The rest of the ride is pretty conventional, but I spent most of that thinking about how uncomfortable I was going straight up. Upside down (at speed) is better, because the centripetal forces push you into the seat more. This, not so much. Did I mention I was uncomfortable? ;)

That said, my favorite is still the Hulk. The launch is just so cool, and the thing seems to go forever. I think either DC side was over in half the time. What a blast!

Is Revenge of the Mummy an option also, or have you already done it? I would do that one before any of the others. The launch on Mummy is a milder version of the one on Hulk.

well, it might help if you drink a lot before you ride them.
then you really wouldn't care what was going on except that you are having a great time.............;)

I always suspected I overthink things. You just proved it. :goodvibes

Just bite the bullet and go for it. have fun your probably not going to die well maybe not anyway.

This is one of the biggest things that "messes" with people. Believe it or not, the journey from the platform to the top of the hill only takes apx 15 sec!

Here would be my order. I was really nervous about them too, but the really aren't any scarier than other roller coasters you may have been on.

Mummy should be first. It's not at all scary. Most people could handle it. It's very short and doesn't go upside down. I think it's geared more towards kids and young teens. It's more of an attraction than a legitimate "coaster."

Second would be Forbidden Journey. The special effects can be scary the first time, but the ride itself is comparable if not tamer than the Mummy. It's great. The best ride I've ever been on.

Next I would do HRRR if going upside down worries you.

Next I would do Dragon Blue and then Dragon Red. Both of these were smooth and really fun. I wasn't at all worried on them once they started. I was a nervous wreck based on things I'd read online about how people had to sit in air conditioned recovery rooms after going on dragon and hulk to recover from the shock. I wanted to get it over with early in the day but it was closed down until the evening, so I had to worry about it all day. Once I went on it, it really was not bad at all. I loved it. It felt very secure. We were in the front seat of the red dragon, and the second seat in the blue. To be honest, the other train looked very far away. I didn't feel like we were going to "collide" like you are supposed to.

Hulk is last. I didn't find it scary, but it bangs your head around a lot against a very hard harness and it gave me an instant headache. It probably isn't a good idea for a first coaster experience. It actually kind of hurts. Especially if you have earrings on.

I agree with trying Mummy first. A lot of people will tell you that you are a chicken if you won't ride these but you just may not do well with them. I've been told more than once that I should ride something 5 times and I'll be cured. If I vomit the first time - why would I go back?? :confused3

I say all that to say: being a "ride chicken" isn't so bad. There are lots of things to enjoy at US / IOA without the coasters. If you don't like them then you don't have to ride. :flower3:

But I totally agree that you should try it because you might love it!!!
