How many rides do you typically fit in in a day at DL? We are trying to do a schedule and just wondering how many we can fit in.

Our average seems to be around 20. At least that is what the rest of the family is saying.

I just got back a week ago, we stayed from opening (8am) till 11pm (i wanted to stay one more hour to make it the whole day, but family was tired :()
anyways, we did about 15 rides going back and forth from Disneyland & California Adventure. We also were able to watch the fireworks, have lunch at blue bayou, stop in the shops from time to time, get hats made, take pics with characters, & stop for snacks.
It's amazing how many rides you can get on when you arrive right when the park opens! We rode a majority of the bigger rides (indian jones, thunder mountain, matterhorn...) before 11am, with haunted mansion, pirates, jungle cruise, captain e o, thrown in between with a fast pass for space mountain at noon!
it worked out well!
this was on a friday, and crowds really got significantly larger around 1 or 2, and on Saturday the crowds really gathered around noon.
its best to get the rides that draw longer lines early in the morning, and if you need to, grab a fast pass and ride smaller rides until your fast pass time frame arrives.
we got tower of terror fast passes, watched the aladdin show, then came out and it was time for us to get on tower of terror! perfect timing!

have fun!!

FWIW, the average at DLR is about 9 rides per day - according to Disney. We have done as many as 30, but on our trip last month did not focus as much on rides and did a lot of shows and dining. I did not count but even without trying we did 10 per day. Some days we probably did 20. Again, if we tried harder we could do 25-30 a day every day.

:goodvibes

I think if you go to ride rides, and don't sit waiting for shows. 20 rides and watching shows is a typical day when you use FPs. I did 33 and watched parade and fireworks with my son on his 4th birthday. It was a rather slow time of year and a weekday. We made rope drop but didn't last much after fireworks just 3 more rides and went home.

This depends on so many factors- time of year, time you'll arrive in the morning, touring style, etc.

If you really want to know what to expect, use Ridemax! That will give you a really good sense of what you can fit into your day.

Our style has changed from when we first started going. We used to get anywhere from 20-30 rides plus a couple shows in when we first started and the kids were littler, even during peak times of year. Now that we've gone so many times, we find that we enjoy so many other things in addition to the rides, so we tend to hit 10-15 rides per day and take time to see shows, shop, pin trade, eat, peoplewatch, and so on.

Do you usually watch fireworks, F or any of the shows or parades? And how long do you usually stay?
We do F on one of the days, Aladdin on another, other various shows. We stay usually 5 days and do as much as we can tolerate or want to.

I have my DL scrapbook right next to me, so I can tell you exactly how many we did in 2008. We had a stroller and a 4 year old and a 2 year old. We were there in September, so hours were shorter and crowds were lighter compared to summertime.

Day one--we were there at rope drop. Nine rides plus a ride on the DL RR before lunch at Carnation Cafe, then eight more rides before we left the park for dinner. We didn't return after dinner.

Day two--Magic Morning. Six rides before breakfast at Minnie and Friends. Then DL RR, Princess FF, five rides at DL and we went over to CA Adventure and went on three rides before Playhouse Disney Live and the Pixar Play Parade.

Day three--rope drop again. Ten rides in DL before lunch at Ariel's Grotto. Then the Parade of Dreams back in DL and four more DL before riding the Monorail (front car!) out of Disneyland.

So 17 rides our first day, 17 rides our second day, and 14 rides our third day--plus, of course, shows, character meals, train rides, etc. Oh, and we always left right before dinner and didn't return afterward because our children were wiped out.

I have a spreadsheet that I have recorded each trip to DLR and what we rode and how many times on each date. (I know I am weird but I love DLR and data) We have been going since July of 2005 with my now DD8. The fewest rides/attractions that we did on a day was 3 (a rainy evening only visit) and the most was 28. We averaged 16 per day. We mostly drive 2 hours to get there when the park opens and hang out until early evening on Saturdays or Sundays. Occasionally, we get a hotel and stay later. I am not sure how to post the spreadsheet to viewed here in case anyone is curious about it.

Usually a full day I squeeze 15-25 rides in with a show or two. I have done up to 35 but that was like including a MM and staying until 11PM...exhausted!

On a non-MM day during peak season (i.e. park hours are 8am-12am), DBF and I do about 20-25 rides per day (but that includes doing almost all of the Fantasyland rides during the first hour) and of course, collecting FPs and using them throughout the day. We are also able to squeeze in at least F! or fireworks as well.

This past trip (Aug 2-4), we averaged 7 rides per day but that included watching WoC (2x on one night) and Aladdin the other night that we did WoC once. But we also didn't get to the parks until later and we also walked a lot slower because DBF wanted to take it "easy".

i do what ever i can get to after the wine bar at DCA..rflol..lol
just kidding.. u know with a pass u can just people watch so i try and fit in all of dca and then 6 or 7 rides at disneylan..maybe more if i am feeling athletic,.,.

Thanks so much...this will be a BIG help.

Definately would love to view it but not sure how to post..maybe someone else can help

You might lose formulas, but DirkLogan could open a spreadsheet in Google Docs and copy and paste the data in?

(I love numbers and I think it's super-cool that he'd keep track so well! :) )

No problem at all. I can tell you that that we did Disneyland with a plan/agenda, this was not done flying by the seat of our pants, LOL. I used The Unofficial Guide and listed exactly which ride I wanted us to do in order each day and we pretty much followed my list--that helped us maximize park time and really tailor our experience to suit our family's needs.
