Yes, we've been back a week now and wish we could win the lottery to enable us to stay more often.

Well, we set off at 5.00pm on Friday 28th April from mid beds to Gatwick for the BA twilight check-in. Hmmm, when we booked 1 year ago the Bank Holiday weekend never occurred to us. We joined the traffic jam at Junction 12 (Toddington) on the M1 (10 minutes from home). 2.5 hours later we arrived at Gatwick.

I'd never done a twilight check-in before, so with some trepidation we approached the BA desk. "We're here for the twilight check-in", says I "certainly Sir", said the lady. "Put your suitcases here please". Tappity tap on the computer, "Thank you Sir", she said. "Is that it?" says I, "Yes Sir", she replied. So after 3 minutes we were back to the car and on our way to the hotel for the night. "Trumbles", what a great little find that was. Really good room, full English Breakfast and parking for 15 days.

Saturday 29th April: Get up, shower, full English breakfast and the owner of Trumbles drives us to Gatwick (approx 10 minutes) for 10.00am for our 11.05am flight. The flight and service from BA was excellent (normally a Virgin traveller - but BA were cheaper even taking into account the 10% Virgin Frequent flyer). We arrived more awake than I've ever done before.

We went to the baggage pick up, and there was the sign....would we report to the BA rep immediately. Oh! Dear! I thought. What has happened? Nothing as it turned out. The BA rep (James) just wanted a 1 to 1 (or should that be three). He gave us a lot of info and then we went to pick up the car from Alamo. Unfortunately a long queue which took half an hour to get through. Having finally convinced the Alamo lady that the compact car we'd booked was the one we wanted, that we didn't want an upgrade, that we would squeeze our baggage into it, and it would be plenty big enough for our normal day to day use, we went to the car park to pick up our vehicle. Our BA rep then meets use again, helps us with our suitcases, and shows us the way to the Alamo car lot. Guess what, they're out of compact cars. Our rep asks us what Alamo said to us. We told him that they told us to take any car from the compact zone. This now happened to be filled with Intermediate sized cars, so therefore we were allowed to take one of those....a Chevrolet HHR - very retro - and me, well pleased, she immediately gets nicknamed "Miss Piggy".

We had a relatively uneventful drive to Port Orleans French Quarter (only one wrong turn), checked in, quickly to our room, quick freshen up, and off to Downtown Disney to "Raglan Road" for our evening meal. Very nice. Now we're on the Disney Dining Plan (more of this later, but as a taster we paid a total of £924 for the 3 of us and our Table Service meals totalled £875!!), so everything went very smoothly.

We then had a little stroll around DTD (quite a bit of refurbishment going on) and then caught the relaxing boat back to Port Orleans French Quarter. By this time it was about 10.00pm so we had a shower and went to bed.....

......more to follow later.
