As the temps begin to drop here I was swapping around my runnings shirts and noticed something.

80-90% of my short sleeve shirts from races are black, while 80-90% of my long sleeve shirts from races are white.....Has anyone else noticed this trend and does it annoy you too???

I know I have seen complaints on these boards about black shirts being too hot for the warm temps.

FYI - for my long run last weekend was 65. For this morning's long run it was 40 with wind chill pushing it to 32

Now that I think about it, I've never had a black one. Most are white, some are colors, and the colored shirts are almost exclusively long-sleeved.

I had a 40 degree long run today too and it rained the entire time. It was miserable but I got a lift every time I saw another runner out in it. :thumbsup2 Made me think about why we do what we do and goodness knows I had plenty of time to think. :)

None of my tech shirts from races are black: white, yellow, grey. Cotton t-shirts from races are a variety of colors, and don't seem to have a pattern whether long or short sleeved. I pretty much just wear the cotton ones to sleep in, so all I care about is if they go with my lounge pants or shorts (and I use "go with" in the loosest sense of the term).

If I had to say there was a color trend with my race shirts, it would have to be that cotton shirts are usually white (either short or long sleeved). I've gotten tech shirts in a variety of colors, but I think blue is the most prevalent. I have a black Under Armour tech shirt from the Maryland Half Marathon that I absolutely love, even in hot weather. The couple other black tech shirts I have are from Rock 'n' Roll races and they're too big for me. Personally I could care less about the color. I just want a shirt that's wearable... women's cut in XS or S please!

I have a variety of tech shirt colors from races. I don't have any long sleeve tech shirts from races, but most of the long sleeved cotton tees are white with one exception. I wouldn't mind more neutral colored shirts since I usually use them to train in if they are the right style.

All of my long sleeve ones are white. I only have three short sleeves. One is dark blue, one is gray and one is lime green (no, not the WISH shirt.)
I wish I had other colors with long sleeves.

I have received two long-sleeved tech shirts from recent races: a red one from Saturday's race and a green one back in August. All my other race shirts have been short-sleeved. My other three long-sleeved tech shirts were purchased and they are white, lime green, and black. So I wear them (along with a wicking running jacket) for my training runs now that it is usually in the mid 40s when I run in the mornings.

I just did a quick inventory, and found the exact opposite. Almost all of my long-sleeved tech shirts are dark (the exception being the WDW marathon ones and a couple of others) and most of the short-sleeved ones are white. Even my Goofy shirt is dark blue. Our local marathon has had black and gray for the first few years; only last year did they switch to white. And we have a local Turkey Trot that offers a different color every year, so I have a collection of brown, black, and red. I think I missed the orange year!

Maybe it's a southern thing. We know how to keep cool?

In taking a quick mental inventory of my closet and dresser, I've got long sleeve tech shirts from races that are blue, black, white, and red. My short sleeves tech ones from races are also blue, black, white, and red. I think I need to start running races based on shirt color and not just bling. :rotfl:

About 2/3 of my tech shirtsfrom races are white. Otherwise, in short sleeve I have a few burghundy, a red, turquoise, and charcoal. My long sleeves are blue, kelly green turquoise, purple (and it wasn't team in training), black and yellow.I rarely wear the white short sleeved shirts as a friend told me to pour water down my shirt to cool off- it works but it is not good with white! Having a women's cut of any color makes shirts my favorite.

I have many colors in my short-sleeved (white, pink, turquoise, etc) but only white long sleeved with the exception of my Goofy shirt. Agree with pp, maybe because I am in the south so no black.
