Revised O Canada! film makes its debut at Epcot Saturday

Scott Powers | Sentinel Staff Writer

August 31, 2007

The long-awaited, updated version of the O Canada! Circle-Vision film at Walt Disney World's Epcot will debut Saturday.

The new version of the film, offered as an attraction in the Canada Pavilion of Epcot's World Showcase, features Martin Short as narrator and recent Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila.

Disney officials said the new version balances a look at Canada's cosmopolitan, urban flavor with the spectacle of the Canadian landscape. The attraction will officially be dedicated in October.

LATE!

Did not open Saturday.... We looked but not open.

Video's already up on youtube.

Martin short is completely useless in this film. He's not funny and he doesn't really add any heartwarming appeal. Pamela Anderson would have done a better job. AND been more interesting to look at in circlevision.

MY G*D, THE SILICON, IT'S EVERYWHERE!!!!

The dumbing down of Epcot.

First El Rio del Tiempo, which is now all about Donald Duck and very little about Mexico, now O' Canada which is a lot about Martin Short with a little about Canada thrown in. It's not funny, not very informational or educational, and not worth seeing twice.
Canada deserves better, far better.

I could not even make it through the video on you tube...I think they should just play the movie Strange Brew on a loop insted.

to be fair, I found the movie reasonably educational. Short just has nothing to work with for a script. Canada does deserve better though.

OK EUROPACL, that bug avatar got me...I've had a couple beers, but please...Now I guess I have to go to the eye doctor.

I didn't think it was so bad, I did think they forgot a few places, such as Winnipeg and oh, the Yukon, NWT, Nunavet, but when you're sqeezing an entire country into 15 minutes, I guess showing what most people know about is probably the best strategy (i.e Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver).

But then again, Canada is a second home to me and I know a lot about it, so I guess I don't really have an unbiased view...

Canada is our neighbor here in the northland, a beautiful, beautiful country with wonderful people. This movie just doesn't do it - Martin Short - the horrible singing of a great song. This is a discredit to Canada - a big discredit.

Yes you still stand to view it. I was disappointed in it, too. Canada does deserve better. And Mexico is also a joke. Why do we have to have cartoon characters in everything? Something wrong with actually learning about a country? Why do cartoons and entertainers have to be the focus? I would prefer the old Mexico ride to this new one.

I thought it did better at pointing out the cities we were looking at (helps those of us who are not Canadian and might like to got here someday), but MS's jokes were stupid. He looks so OLD!!!!!
