Review: The Muppets “Pig Girls Don’t Cry (Pilot)”

Thanx for the review, Craig. You made me curious enough to watch the show, and I never would have thought of it before! :)

I thought it was okay. Hopefully it will grow better as it goes on. There were some really funny moments. I though Dancing with the Czars was a hoot.

Was pretty disappointed in it. And for two primary reasons:

1. It needs to decide what it's going to be. I know that Henson's original "purpose" for the Muppets was to gear the comedy to adults, while still being appealing to kids. But ever since the movies started in 1979, it seems like that was flipped. My kids were pretty excited to watch last night's episode, but I had heard that it might be geared towards adults, so I watched it first. And while I didn't find it offensive at all, they did kinda toe the line, theme-wise. I'm not super-uptight about what I let my kids watch at their current ages, but I think I'll hold off on them watching it for now. If they're going to make adults their target demo, just put it at 9 and market it that way.
2. It needs to be funnier. It had its moments, but it just felt really forced. A lot of pilot episodes feel that way, so it's normal. I just think the writing needs to be stronger.

All of that said, I'll give it another shot, and I still love the Muppets. The show just needs to find a groove and stay in it.

Got around to the first ep last night.
I wanted to love it, but it was meh.
Had some funny spots, but could have been better.

But knowing that some shows get better as episodes go on, I will still keep watching.

Also, it always makes me laugh when I see a full body muppet just walking around.

I watched the first episode. Didn't really know what to think about it.

Wasn't sure if I was going to watch the second episode. I decided to watch it 1 minute
before it started. Summary - this isn't very good.

Same concerning the third episode. After watching that episode my summary is this
is not interesting, for me, other adults, and children. This show is poorly written, not
funny, not witty, and boring.

I saw that the first episode was watched by something like 9 million people. The second
episode dropped to something like 5 million people. Curious to see what the numbers
are for episode three.

I want to like it sooo badly, though. It's just not working for me. And it's not because I'm older now.

Let us not forget that they revived the muppet show back in the mid 90s as well for 2 seasons, and that was really funny too. It was SNL-esque with a celebrity host doing sketches and "backstage" bits...

Muppets Tonight is a live-action/puppet television series created by Jim Henson Productions and featuring The Muppets. Much like the "MuppeTelevision" segment of The Jim Henson Hour, the show was a continuation of The Muppet Show, set in a television studio, rather than a theater.[2]

It first ran on ABC from March 8 to July 14, 1996, with reruns on Disney Channel from 1997 to 2000.

This show even had Prince in an episode.

Do you hear me? PRINCE was the guest host of an entire episode of the Muppets, and it was amazing.
The version of Starfish and Coffee he did on that episode is superior to the album version :D

It's like watching a show you used to love as a kid, then re-watching it as a grown-up and realizing how lame it really was (ie: Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team, etc).

Did Disney make the new Muppets show so bad that when they officially announce the closing
of MuppetVision 3D people will rejoice instead of signing petitions to keep it open?

I guess I am in the minority, but I like it. I appreciate they are trying to make the Muppets relevant today.

I've been enjoying the new show a lot. Each episode seems to get better as the characters settle into the show's format.
