We're just back from our 15th anniversary trip. I planned a private dinner for DH & I at the Grand Floridian. I worked with Linda, who is in charge of private dining there. Our dinner was Friday, Oct. 5. Everything was amazing!! The only thing that didn't work out was the weather. We were supposed to be seated on the 3rd floor terrace, but it was raining. So, they had created a table for two on the 5th floor at a small seating area off of the lobby, beside the large arched windows. It was lovely. We only had 1 family pass us in the 2+ hours we were there. We could also hear the lovely music from both the piano and the orchestra downstairs. They played a combination of Disney music, show tunes, and lite jazz. It was wonderful for the ambiance.

Our personal butler, Jack, was fabulous! I had kind of wondered what having our own butler would be like. Would he hover? That would be kind of weird. He was very attentive without ever hovering. He would attend to our needs and then make himself scarce for awhile, so that we could enjoy our food & conversation.

The menu was a combination of things I'd requested and what the chef created for us. We began with a glass of Iron Horse Fairy Tale Cuvee. Neither of us are big wine drinkers. I'm more of a fruity mixed drink girl, but I wanted to try this since it was made just for Disney. It was a bit too dry for my taste, as I prefer sweeter sparkling wines. But I managed to finish it off.;) Our first course was a lovely salad of mixed greens with poached pears, with a hazelnut balsamic vinegarette dressing. This was followed by crab cakes with a mango salsa. I just about licked the plate these things were so good!! YUMMY!!

For our main course, we both had petite filet and lobster tail, with potato croquettes and asaparagus. Again, I could've licked the plate! The filet was prepared with a red wine sauce & mushroom ragout. It was succulent! Unbelieveable excellent.

We finished with a custom cake I'd ordered. It's like one on the cake thread - a 6" topper with fondant, stamped with silver Mickey heads. The cake was vanilla, with chocolate mousse & fresh strawberry filling, and buttercream frosting covered with fondant. The white chocolate Mickey & Minnie on top was not the stand alone I've seen on the threads here. It was flat on the back & was attached to the cake with wooden dowls, and then had lovely gum paste flowers in front of Mickey & Minnie. The cake was DELICIOUS!! We brought it back & the kids had some that night. We all had cake for dessert the next night, and we still had a little to throw away before we left for the cruise.

The evening was magical in every way, in spite of the rain. The cost for the evening was $368.68, which included 18% gratuity for our butler. He gave us such fine service that we added another $20 in cash, bringing the total for the evening to $388.68. It was worth every penny and was an evening my husband & I will never forget!

That is sooooo wonderful! I'm so glad you shared the experience with us! Thank you!

Happy Anniversary! Sounds like an amazing evening. Thanks for sharing with us,
