I was so nervous about staying in a Wing room at The Contemporary-

We checked in, our TA (DU) apparently had not made doubly sure that our room request was given- they had nothing in their system-didn't even know it was our anniversary, we were checking in in the afternoon. So our options were a smoking King in the South wing or a Non smoking 2 queens in the North
We went for the North and had to sleep in seperate beds. It was a downside and took me a little while to get out of my funk.

They were painting the hallways while we were there (last month) and we never were disturbed.

Our room was about the 5th room down on the left when coming from the tower, on the first floor. What a location! It was great. Soooo close to the tower and the pool, just flip flop myself on over for a dunk at in the afternoon.. and from the monorail- swing left when exiting the monorail (opposit of the crowd's direction) and take the "EXIT" door- no one stopped us. Its obviously used by smokers, but provides a direct decent from monorail to the North Wing- brings you out to the viewing benches on side of building- continue on down the stairs and POOF! You are at the North Wing side enterence.

Our room was also perfect for sitting in our chairs at night and viewing fireworks- and the castle!

During the day bunnies nibbled on grass in front of us- I saw as many as 5 at one time. We sat on the chairs on our patio quite often, it wasn't too hot and was enjoyable. True, you have the parking lot in front of you and the monorail, but it was easy to over look.

The room has bad stains on the rug, but since lighting isn't bring it really didn't bother us at all. The easy access to everything was so awesome!

I would stay in the Wings again in a heartbeat!

Just curious-Why would you have to sleep in separate beds?

I'm glad you enjoyed your location. It sounds awesome.

I'm looking forward to staying at the Contemporary next year. It's nice to hear you enjoyed it.

I was thinking the same thing. :confused3

:sunny:

Why would I want to squeeze into a queen bed when Im used to sleeping in a King?

Personal preference, but sharing a queen would be roughing it for me- :)

:earboy2: Thanks for clearing that up.

I just couldn't figure it out.

I'm sorry they weren't able to get you a King, especially on your anniversary.

I'm glad you had a good time. We were there May 14th - May22nd and we were 4 doors down on the right side. (room 7104). It was great. When we were there they started wallpapering the hallway. They never bothered us either. I love your shortcut. I wish we had known, although, the walk never that bad for us. We are already planning to stay at the CR on our next trip. we plan to split our 2 week stay between the CR, YC and one of the universal hotels.

If it were my anniversary and that happened, I would try to put the beds together. But seeing how in most hotels you can't, I would have made do with a queen.

Sorry, but I find her answer a wee bit strange. :confused3

Not so strange...I'm 5'8" and dh is 6'4"...we are not very comfy in a queen. We'll take it if that's all there is but usually, my dd and I share a queen and dh gets the other bed to himself. We are just very restless sleepers. I'm sure the anniversary was celebrated just fine!!

I'm glad you liked the North Wing. We loved it there. So very convienient to everything. And we used that same shortcut you did!!!

Unfortunatly, we were there the same time Hurricane Charley was...we checked in the same day!!! And we were there for just two nights before moving over to BWV. So we never got to use the pool, since it was closed. But, I'm sure there will be a 'next' time.
