I know this is a tad bit late for a review, but I'm bored and need a Disney fix! We went the week of 12/01-12/08 and dined at the California Grill on 12/04. There were 3 of us, ages 24 & 25, and on the DDP. 2 of us had been on the DP before, but the CG was a first for all of us. I was very sceptical because the type of food here just doesn't fancy our southern taste. On with the review...
It was a nice ride on the elevator up to the restaurant. The man was really nice and we didn't have to wait long at all. I think our ADR was for 5:55, we arrived there at around 5:50. We were almost immediately taken to our seats, and then Wishes started not a few minutes later. We didn't have a window seat, bummer. But we did have a nice view without having to go out on the balcony. Our waiter was a bit weird. We wanted to order our food before Wishes started, and he thought we wanted to wait until after. I was ordering my food, when he stopped me and told me he didn't speak southern! I thought it was funny, because there are people who talk WAY worse than I do! He wasn't a very good waiter though. I thought maybe it was because we were on the DP, but I noticed we weren't the only people he was doing it to, he stayed MIA most of the time. We never experienced bad service anywhere but here. He really wasn't that bad, but we had better at less expensive places. Okay.. now the food...
Appetizers...
I ordered the Quail. I noticed that they no longer serve this now. I can't remember the details about it, but it was delicious!
My sister had the goat cheese ravioli. She liked it, but I loved it! I wish I had gotten this. I'm not really a cheese lover, but I really enjoyed this!
My BIL got the 4-cheese flatbread and he really liked it!
Main Dishes...
My sister and I both got the oak fired filet and they were cooked to perfection. I honestly have to say it wasn't the best steak we had at DW, but was very flavorful and cook to perfection!
My BIL got the rainbow trout, which isn't on the menu at this time. It was a whole trout and the skin grossed him out. He still ate it, but for some reason he didn't really like it because of the skin. He said he would never order it again.
Finally the good stuff! Dessert...
I got the pumpkin torte, I think that's what it was called. It was good, not the best I've ever had, but good.
My sister had the pear something. They burnt the bottom and that ruined the whole thing. I tried to get her to send it back, but she was full anyway. It came with brown sugar ice cream and that was the best part!
My BIL had the Honey Crunch Cake. It was soooo good! He devoured that thing! We almost didn't get a taste of it!
Our overall experience was good. We won't be back unless they downgrade it to a 1 TS credit. There were too many other 1 TS credit places around DW that were better than the CG. There was alot of flavor to the food that we ate, just nothing spectacular that we all expected. We all agreed that the Kona Cafe`(we ended up eating here twice during our trip) and the Coral Reef were better (I've personally eaten here 3 times and never had a bad meal). I might come back in a few years for that goat cheese ravioli!!!!
