DH is so wonderful
... He surprised me on Thursday evening, with lets open our cards early... I was like our Anniversary is tomorrow... he was like no lets open them now... so I agreed...I could tell he was up to something... So in his card to me, there was a little note... not sharing this part... I will share the little PS at the bottom, that said we are going to stay at a magical place... and I took off tomorrow.. Then he told me our plans... We would be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge... We have never stayed here, so we were both so excited to get the chance....
We were up and at the resort by around 9:30... Since it was last minute the only choice for booking a room was standard... which I could have cared less where we were at, The fact we were staying was so amazing...and DH planning it made it all the more special...
Going through security was simple, name, driver licences, - You are staying at the Jambo House... next stop sign and turn right...
They directed us to the check in parking lot.... which only really has about maybe 10 regular spaces and the rest are handicap... Now we know just to park in self parking next time. ( Self parking was 22.00 a night while we were there)
So once inside which is just so beautiful... We have been there to have breakfast at Boma, and to see the animals. It's been a while since we visited... It really is just so grand and beautiful... Once it was our turn to check in... We got some pixie dust... DH had requested a king bed, and asked again while we were checking in.... he said he would see what he could do... We got up graded to a pool view room, and a king bed.... YAY... Happy Anniversary to us..., as well we got our celebration buttons to wear... I will say it did take a few minutes to get everything linked, and settled... Our room was not ready nor did we expect it to be, so they explained a few things to us, and told us that they would text us when our room was ready... so we looked around a bit, then headed for the bus stop...
The bus stop is easily found, out of the main doors and to your left, follow the side walk... everything is marked very well... there are monitors with bus arrival times... and they were absolutely on time every time we got on the buses... They do share buses to Kidani... honestly there did not seem to be pattern to if they were picking up at Kidani 1st or Jambo 1st... or dropping off... its a short hop by bus over there and back....so it really wasn't a time killer at all...
Once we received the text, 1:30 ish... we headed out of Animal Kingdom around 2:30 ish ... and back to the resort... DH decided to pull around and get some help with our bags, and we got lucky there was a someone available to take our luggage right away... She was just delightful... she explained everything along the way, which was nice, to have her give us some suggestion when and where to go to see the animals, as well as giving us some thoughts and suggestions on the restaurants... including Jambo and Kidani options.... ( I will have a separate post with the reviews over on the dinning board)
Our room... was on the 1st floor 1468... the view was really nice, and having a patio was really nice, we did use is a couple of times, and hung our beach towels out to dry over the chairs... The bed was comfortable, more on the firm side for us both was okay... the room was very clean... double sinks and enough towels... which is nice for a change.. there was a extra pillow and blanket in the top of the closet which we did use the extra pillow... fridge, safe, ceiling fan, iron and iron board and air conditioner all in working order and no weird sounds... there is a coffee maker we did not use it...
Side note - the room is very dark... so you might want to think about bring a nite light along... as well as clip or close pin or even a chip clip will work keeping the drapes together...If you are pool side the lights at the pool are really quite bright, stadium lighting and the pool was open until 11:00, so this might be a issue for light sleeper like myself...
The Pool was perfect... We like the fact that there were alot of shaded areas, and we easily found a spot... The pool loungers are really nice, and comfortable, and well maintained... I did get a frozen drink from the pool bar... and it hit the spot, and one was enough... very generous with the adult beverage pour... I'm sorta light weight... and one drink in the sun is sorta my limit... Plenty of pool towels, and the pool area was kept very clean...
Animal Viewing... there are alot of spots to see the animals... they are on sorta a rotation on the the times they are on the Savannah, all done very well... talking to the CM that are posted, they are very knowledgeable and friendly...
I strongly suggest spending some time checking out the resort... it is totally worth it...
