Hello all!

Last weekend, I spend 3 days at DLP with my mom and brother.
When we were busy making our reservations, we have first called to the Chambres d'Hotes at Villeneuve-le-Comte where we stayed last summer (B&B Anne Marie Brut). Unfortunately, she only had a room free for two people. And my brother didn't want to sleep in the car. :confused3
So we had to look for another place. We knew there was another B&B adress in the same village, we called there, they had a room and we booked.

Usually, when you book a B&B in France, you send them a little card where you confirm your reservation, and they usually send you a business card with a map of how to reach them. In this case, we booked only a week in advance, and with the holidays, the post wasn't working as usual. Nevertheless, we sent them a confirmation. And much to our surprise, we received a formal contract that we had to sign and send them back. Now, my parents stayedn French B&Bs since 30 years or so, and they have never ever had to sign such a formal contract and send it back.
With New Year last week, the contract didn't make it back to them in time.

On the day of arrival, we first went to the B&B before going to Disney. It was about 10.30 or so when we arrived there. My brother and I stayed in the car while my mom went inside to get the key etc. When she came back to the car, she told us she was rather disappointed in the room. We said that we didn't care that it wasn't decorated nicely, as long as it was clean, we were happy. We went to DLP, spent the day with the mouse, had dinner at the Village, and around 11 pm we were back at the B&B.
When we entered the room, at first sight everything looked OK. At second sight, it didn't look OK at all. The sheets and towels were clean, but that's where the cleanliness stopped. The room was dirty, the bathroom was dirty, there was about no light (impossible to read in bed!), on the mezzanine were two beds but not even a chair to put your clothes on, ...
Oh, and we noticed that the price mentioned in the contract they had sent us wasn't corresponding with the prices mentioned in the room. They charged us 20 EUR or so too much.
But, we said, it's only for 2 nights, we'll survive.

In the morning, taking a shower was a challenge. The bathroom was so tiny... There was no way you could stand in front of the sink, because there just wasn't enough space. The shower was very very tiny. Ok, I am not the smallest person in the world, but my brother's BMI is almost anorexc, and even he had troubles in the shower! Next to all that, the bathroom wa sjust filthy.
Things got worse during breakfast. The tablecloth was dirty, the butter put on the table was the butter they had served to other guests and there was jam etc in it. The jams were homemade, but ut in jars of Uncle Ben's and cream etc. Also, the man who served breakfast made us feel very uncomfortable.
And that's when we decided that we would leave, contract for two nights or not. I said we'd find a place to sleep anyway, even if it was a more expensive hotel near the airport or so.

While I went back to the room packing, my mom went talking to the "hostess" and off we were. But we didn't have a room to sleep that night...

What we did was go to Mrs Brut, where we had stayed the previous time. My mom thought that for one of the nights the family room was free, and with a little bit of luck it would be that night. Well, it wasn't, but she called a B&B in St Germain sur Morin, 7 km from DLP and they had an available room and were willing to host us on such short notice, so off we were to the new place to sleep.

It isn't so easy to find, and you may not be scared to go up steep hills with your car, but other than that, the place was marvelous!!!! The hostess was SO nice, the room was beautiful, and breakfast was very good!!!

Mrs Legendre will certainly see us again, this is an address I can only advice!!

And avoid the first one, it was SO disappointing!!!!

I hope this review helps people that go by car and like cheaper and more personal alternatives than a hotel.

Sandra thanks for sharing your experience :)
The first one definitely sounds like it should be avoided :confused3

We are going to avoid it at all costs.
They have 3 "epis" according to Gites de France, but of course, they don't check each room every year. My mom is going to write a letter to them, so they can correct that.

They were two big issues:
1. cleanliness. whether it is 1 epis or 3, a room should be clean!
2. not the comfort you are supposed to get when you book a 3 epis room. Two small nightlights, a bathroom that is so small you can't turn around, no chair on the mezzanine, no electricity outlet in the bathroom and just one in the room. So, no shaving for the men, no hairblowing for the women, and in general, in a room for 4 people, with everyone having cell phones and camera batteries that need to be recharged, that is just not enough. usually, in a 3 epis, there is bottled water/ glasses in the room and there are facilities, in the room or a living room to make coffee/ tea. There was 1 cup in the bathroom...

But well, we tried, and the second address showed that those bad experiences are exceptions. In all those years we stay B&B (as well France as Germany as Austria as...) there have only been 4-5 bad experiences.

Btw, the second address, they have a room for 4 people, a room for 5 people and they have a "gite", a family suite with kitchenette! It's a short drive from Disney (from the NBC: take a left towards the Holiday Inn etc hotels, at the roundabout take a left (after driving around it of course :) ), then take a right, and just keep on driving until St Germain sur Morin, and then follow teh arrows.)
