I am watching an eBay auction for a 7-night stay at the Celebrity Orlando resort. Price is good, but I need to know before bidding whether this is a nice place to stay. I searched the hotel reviews and couldn't find one on here for this particular resort.

Which location? We stayed at the one on Ponciana Blvd in Kissimmee in October 2007. There are 2 properties across the street from each other that comprise that particular resort, and we got the older one. I have heard that the newer section across the street is very nice, but we didn't get to see it at all (except the registration area at checkin). The decor in our 2 bedroom lockoff unit was right out of the "Miami Vice" 80's, and there were huge builder dumpsters out in the parking areas. The pool wasn't very nice at all, and we had tiny ants all over the kitchen. The beds were comfy, but that is about all we had to compliment them on. The master bath was truly strange- there was a big Jacuzzi tub with shower (not seperate), but no shower curtain, shower door, or anything. It was very strange to stand in the middle of the big tub with no door to stop water from pooling on the floor. A bit- ahem- breezy, too! The employees were pretty pushy about trying to get us to do a timeshare tour/sales pitch (which we were told we were NOT required to do when we made the reservation). We finally just stopped answering the phone so they couldn't keep after us.

I appreciate your review. Yes, the one I was looking at was for the one on Poinciana. The guy selling it was adamant about no timeshare tour required, and I even asked upfront if there were any additional "resort fees" expected. But all the info we were getting seemed very one-sided. Of course the owners and staff are going to tell you it's a great place! The real test is seeing what a guest thinks, and we tend to be pessimistic when it comes to these sorts of things, so I'm really glad now that I didn't bid on it. Even paying only $200 for a week wouldn't have been worth ants, pushy salesmen, and funky curtainless showers.

We got the place for free (IL's had an extra week on their timeshare, and gave it to us), and it wasn't worth it!! :rotfl: We stayed one night at the Radisson Resort Orlando-Celebration before checking into Celebrity, and we spent the rest of the week wishing we were back at the Radisson. DH said "Never again!"- he'd rather pay for a decent place than stay there again for free.

Wow, I am amazed at the reviews! We stayed their last year for 2 nights and had a great experience and are going back in April for a week! We stayed in a 3 bedroom in the newer section. Our room was very clean (and not tacky, lol). The set up for the attatched room was kind of strange but worked great for us. My parents had the master suite, dh and I had the bedroom with 2 queens with our girls and the boys slept on the pull out in the "den". Not a huge pool but enough for us.
When we checked in we were asked if we were interested in hearing about the timeshares to which we simply said "no thanks" and that was it!
Now I am a bit concerned about what we might experience next month!

I think the key is that you got to stay in the new section. We weren't so lucky. The newer section did look very nice- the ILs did say that they have seen the units there and they are head and shoulders above the older section. I suppose if we had let them talk us into the timeshare presentation, we could have seen a nicer, new unit. The one we stayed in was not totally awful, but it definitely wasn't updated or modern.
