This was a disappointing experience, very unusual from other character meals. People without PS ressies were seated before us and mass seatings made the buffet line very long. We missed Donald while we were in the buffet line. Characters were very rushed and not very engaging. Food was okay, good cold buffet, but overall not worth the money or wait.:charac2:

My experience wasn't quite as bad as yours, but Donald's was the most disappointing character meal I've done (all others have been great). Our server let us know when the characters were about to come and advised us not to go to the buffet until after they visited, but when they did come, it was very brief. The characters all seemed very rushed and only stayed around for one quick picture. I won't be going back to this breakfast.

This is only the third character breakfast we've done. I really didn't enjoy it that much. The theme waS cute. Meeting Donald was wonderful, the CMs were attentive, but food wasn't good.

We did the breakfast at Cape May 3 days before Donald's. The two were like night and day. I'd do Cape May again in a heart beat. I'd only return to Donald's if someone in our group really wanted to see Donald Duck.

Hmmm, Where is Cape May? I should know but I don't! What characters are there? I'll have to try it next time!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We were there in December 2002 and loved it. We were the first seating however, which I bet makes a difference (though it shouldn't).

The food was hot and delicious and the character interaction great...

When we did Donalds 2 years ago, I thought we were the only ones who had a bad experience there. Within the past few months Ive been hearing more and more bad reviews about it , especially ones that sound exactly like our experience. Its really too bad because I think the theming and characters really have potential to be a great meal, especially for boys. :(

We did Donald's last June and it was really bad. There is SO much stuff on the table you can barely put the plates down. The hot food area is set up so poorly that the lines are VERY long. We had to settle for the cold food after our first trip through the hot line because the lines were crazy.
As everyone else has stated, everything is rushed. It is pretty disorganized. We will never do this one again.

This seems to be a big problem. Why don't you all complain to the powers that be?? Maybe if they heard from enough people they would correct the problems.

We have been to Donald's a total of 4 times, all times had the first seating. We have always loved Donald's except for our last experience.
It was very rushed & I felt a total waste of money.
I don't know if I would ever go back there again, especially hearing so many complaints about them recently

Maybe the key is to attend the first seating.

Our PS was for 9:45. There was a huge line when we tried to check in and many families were sitting outside waiting to be called. In all fainess, we were there on Good Friday, that may have had a huge impact on our experience.

Okay, I guess I must be in the minority. I found donalds fine, not the best but by far not the worst. I found Chef Mickeys to be a big disappointment. I found the food was fine at donalds, I mean we are looking at a buffet. I have always been put in the back room with like 6 or 8 families and had enough character interation. I will again be going back there in two weeks, and will re-evaluate but like I say, it is by far not the worst of the character meals in our experience.:duck:

Add me to the list of those who were disappointed! We went in December (12/11) and we had the first seating. It just wasn't up to par. The character interaction was rushed, the service was so-so, and the food was blah. Not something I wish to repeat.

I thought the same thing. I'm glad it wasn't just me ::yes:: but sad :( that it really is like that for a lot of people. It was the PS we were most looking forward to doing that year.

Well, I guess I'm a lone voice here, but I really like Breakfastosauraus. I guess I've just been lucky, but I've been three times (latest in January of 2004) and twice in the summer. I've never had to wait to sit or missed any characters (of course, I've probably just jinxed myself since we have a PS there next week)...

I will agree with you  We really enjoyed Donald's and found the character interaction, service and food to be really great. My kids loved it!

I found dinner at Chef Mickey's to be a disappointment. Felt really rushed, the character interaction was so so, we never even saw some of the characters and the food was ok. BUT I am going to try breakfast and see if that is much better. I have heard much better reports on that. Anybody attest to breakfast being better than dinner at CM's??

Denise

I have a ps there in a couple of weeks. We've never done a character meal so I have nothing to compare it to. I'm sure regardless, the kids will get a thrill out of it.

I'm in the minority too, it seems. Dh and I did Donald's this past March and thought it was fun.

Not only did we have a first seating, we were the first table the characters visited! Our server was very nice and inisited on taking pictures of both Dh and me with the characters, rather than he taking pictures of only me with them. We felt the characters took their time with us, even just being 2 adults. The buffet, while plain was fine and hot.

Sounds like first seating is the key!

i wanted to try thid on our upcoming trip in dec.---on another board i read they do something a little different for the christmas season---is this true?? i hope we won't be disappointed with the experience--there is nothing worst than feeling rushed while eating..which by the way i felt totally rushed when we did the breakfast at the castle..as pretty as it was we had the server try and grab our plates 2 times before we were even done(it seemed liked the minute they seen a fork hit the table they would just run over an grab up your plate.

We did Donald's in May and were also disappointed. We were the last seating. I thought the food was lousy, even if it was the last seating. It should have been better. They put out this fresh apple dumpling type of thing...it wasn't cooked through and was doughy...eeeewwww!! The cold buffet never got filled, our server was rushed and inattentive. We mentioned that it was our ds5's birthday and they did NOTHING for him, while at another table, they made a huge deal out of another child's birthday and sang to him.

The characters took forever to come out, and once they finally came around to us, we were actually ready to leave. They were brisk and stopped only for a photo, nothing more.

We've done Crystal Palace and Cape May for breakfast and Chef Mickey's for dinner in the past and have been totally pleased with them. As for Donalds, never again.
