So I'm not a big rollercoaster afficionado. My motto is, if it doesn't have inversions, ride it. But I've been a little afraid of riding on this one because I don't know what to expect.
So, is it too jarring? Are there any upside down moments? How is the overall experience?
Speed I don't mind, but I'm kinda nervous about riding this one and want to know more about it before I do.

No upside down moments, just a cool themed fast coaster, so nothing to worry about

You will love it.Its a inside dark ride, one of if not the best I have ever rode.:thumbsup2
Make sure you walk thru the que cause it sets up the story!!
I promise you will love it.This comes from a coaster chicken!!
You can youtube it but that will spoil the ride..

I am a coaster chicken as well - but I LOVE MUMMY!

Don't expect a "roller coaster" per se....it is a themed ride to me...not a roller coaster.

I would put : Hulk, DD, Space Mountain , BTMRR, SPlash, EE in a Roller Coaster Category...and of those - I have only ridden WDW's...

Mummy is much more themed so you lose the idea you are on a roller coaster...

Ride Mummy and have a wonderful time!

We just got back from Universal today. Before this trip it had been 8+ years since I rode a roller coaster. I rode Mummy to break the dry spell. I was EXTREMELY nervous, but once it got going, everything was fine. The first little surprise even had me laughing. It was dark, but not too jarring, everything flowed together well. My 7 year old daughter rode with me and did great although she didn't care for the dark parts. I really like the ride...hope you will too!

Is it comparable to space mountain?

No way. It goes faster and has better special effects. The Mummy has sharp turns and drops. It does not go upside down but it is really cool.

I don't know why that poster put splash mountain in a rollercoaster category and not the mummy.

I'm a certified coaster chicken and I love the Mummy! I really don't think of it as a coaster. Also, its a pretty fast ride so if for some reason you don't like it, its over quick.

Just wanted to update and say, I got on ROTM for the first time and LOVED it. Seriously, I don't know why I was so scared, it was fun! For the record, I found EE to be worse and scarier than ROTM.

One of my fav rides ever! No upside down moments, and it blows Space Mountain out of the water!!
I also say Youtube it, you can really get an idea what it's like
Have Fun!

I just rode this one for the first time yesterday and I am a BIG ride chicken! I actually posted about it here, asking if I should or shouldn't.;) I ended up trying it(DS14 wore me down begging) and it was a really cool ride! It is similar to Space Mountain in some ways--drops are about the same and the roller coaster part is in the dark. The difference is that the first part is more of a show, and is sort of creepy. After that, you go down a very small drop backwards. Then the car turns around 360 degrees and you go up a hill. At the top, you are shot out very fast to start the coaster part, which lasts about 1 minute or less, with 2-3 drops the size of the ones in SM and lots of fast curves.

Definitely try it! The drops feel less in the front car, but even in the back, I never got that full stomach in the throat feeling.
