Hi guys, I was wondering what your thoughts are for a 6 year old that meets the height requirements going on the Mummy?? DD has ridden all the Disney coasters, TOT, etc and loves them. I am not nervous about the actual ride, more the theming. Has anyone taken a younger child that meets the requirements on this? Thanks so much!

I'm interested in knowing about this as well. DD loves thrill rides but is scared of POTC at Disneyland but loves, loves, loves the movie. Go figure!

well, all kids are different.

if your child has no fear of a coaster ride in the dark, knows what is said in the pre ride portion is make believe and not true, doesn't mind loud noises, likes fast coasters, then they should be fine.

my kids/boys loved it, but they didn't pay attention to anything but the coaster part of the ride.

have they ever seen the Mummy movie?
if that didn't bother them, the pre coaster portion should not upset them.

the theme of the ride is probably over the heads of the younger set.

my son was tall enough at 5 and liked coasters so we took a chance and let him ride. He was scared at the beginning but as soon as the ride took off he was hooked and it turned out to be his favorite ride. We rode it 3 times that day.
On a side note he was scared enough at twister that we had to leave.

My son was 5 also when he first rode it. He still likes the ride but he hates the part with the black beetles.

Maybe watch the ride on Youtube and make sure you discuss that things she see are like tv. It's a lot of fun, and that is coming from a ride chicken!

Thanks so much everyone, she watched the ride video on youtube today, and thought it looked great, she even laughed at the mummys. I personally love the ride, DH has never ridden, so it will be a first for them! Thanks again everyone!! :goodvibes

My kids went on mummy at about 4 years old... they met the height requirement and had a blast! (This was my daughter!)

The fire does come out warm which does tend to scare some of the little ones...

The scariest part is the anticipation and the loud noise during the first part.

Here's a little secret. If she's very scared, tell her to cover her ears. It will actually make it less scary for her and make it easier during those setup periods.

And then the next time (and there WILL be a next time), tell her not to cover her ears, so she can get the full-effect.

(Oh, and by the way- I actually was a little creeped out one time. I've rode this ride so many times, I cease to be able to count, right? But in June- NO ONE was in line to ride it. And I was all by myself, trying to retrieve a hat that my DS left while riding the ride.

So I was all alone, walking the queue by myself. With all the visual and audio effects just going. That made my walk go a little faster...

Every time I see the title of this thread, I think it sounds like a new horror movie:
Revenge of the Mummy & Child

The Mummy is a great ride. I would put my daughter on at 6 yeard old, but every kid is different.

Just wanted to update you all....DD went on the Mummy and LOVED it! We ended up riding many times...lol Thanks so much once again everyone!

I do love the name of this thread! And Congratulations, I'm so glad dd loved it!

I can only get my ds11 off if I tell him we'll do the The Simpsons again...

Glad she enjoyed it. I tried to get nephew on at that age but he stooped down a tad so he wouldn't be able to ride. I gotta bring him back now that he is a little older. See if he toughened up a bit.

The mummy is one of my favorite rides but still can't get my DDS 13 to ride it but Bubbasmom got him to ride Dueling Dragons and The HUlk last year :lmao::lmao:

Thanks for posting an update!! My DD is 6, going on 7 and I am anxious to see how she does on the ride! She says she can handle it because she knows it isn't real :)

My son would have never ridden this at that age! I might have been able to talk him into it at about the age of 10 but I'm not even sure about that. Your child is very brave. :)

My DS was 7 when we went and was an inch shy of the height requirement...he was devastated! Next time I promised him he would be tall enough! Some of you have tall 5 year olds! :D

What did she/you think of the theming? Scary? NSS? I think the line and ride in general is so cool in the theming like you are at a real tomb site in Egypt.
