Since there was a thread about Jack Day, has anyone had Rev. Herring for their ceremony? Has anyone heard anything good/bad about him.
Just wondering. Thanks!

Interested to hear experiences too as we are currently trying to make a decision :)

He did our wedding this past week and I would not recomend him. I had told him 4 times about the mothers rose ceremony and the red rose ( first gift ceremony) and he asked me the day of the wedding what the roses on the table were for! He is also very bad with communication and will respond to emails with one line sentences that are quotes like " be still your troubled heart". I felt stuck with him since Jack Day wasn't available and my fiance for some reason was against Kevin Knox( who I have heard great things about). He did an ok job besides putting me on the spot with what to say to my mother when I handed her the rose but I wanted / and I think most brides will want more from that.

But that could have just been my experience?? Maybe others were pleased?

We had Tim Herring & he was great. We had no problems at all beforehand. We e-mailed him our exact ceremony (we wrote our own ceremony), and he read just what we'd sent him to read, without adding or improvising. This was important to us, since there were certain elements that we did NOT want included, and we liked that he stuck to our script.

He was also great during the ceremony. When I was repeating my vows, I started sobbing, and he kind of made light of it by telling me to take a break, it was okay, and then telling my husband to give me a "calming little kiss." It was funny, so it made me laugh, which broke the crying spell :)

He was very dignified. We also chose him because I liked that he had adopted his children. As a teacher, I'm a HUGE fan of adoption; so many people choose to pass along their own genes, instead of thinking about all those poor kids just being shuttled from foster home to foster home, often being abused and living in fear & misery. Very, very sad... I thought he must be a good man, to bring so many homeless children into his family. I wanted a good man on my wedding day.

Also, call me superficial, but there is something about Jack Day's mouth that bothers me. :rotfl2:

Cheers!

When I had to choose my officiant, I emailed the same message to Rev. Jack, Rev. Kevin, and Rev. Tim all within a few minutes of each other.

Rev. Jack responded a day or so later to let me know he was not available.

Rev. Kevin responded almost immediately by sending a packet of information and asking specific questions. We talked back and forth several times about our wedding. It was kinda funny...we wanted something very casual and I think he was surprised (and maybe even grateful ;) ) that we didn't really want him to wear a suit or his robes on a hot and humid September morning. Rev. Kevin was charming and made our wedding ceremony just the way we wanted it.

Rev. Tim responded to my initial email about a week later. By this time, I had already had several conversations with Rev. Kevin.

I know several brides who have had wonderful experiences with Rev. Tim. Just keep an open mind about your decision...and good luck! :)

We used Rev. Tim. I can't really comment much on his pre wedding day communications because I made that DH's job ;) But when we met him at our planning session he was very personable and took the time to get to know us and the kind of ceremony that we wanted (we had no interest in writing it ourselves). He was great at our rehearsal, as well as on the wedding day. I had no complaints.

rev. tim did our ceremony in march, he was very nice, professional but quirky which we loved. we originally had rev. day booked but he had to cancel for a family wedding & rev. tim took his place last minute & did a great job. he was a riot at our rehearsal. we wrote our own ceremony & he read it exactly how we wanted. so yes i would recommend rev. tim.

 married 5 months today!

We used Rev Tim. I agree that his communications leading up to the wedding were short (the beauty of email) but we loved working with him the day of our rehearsal and wedding. My husband spent a lot of time with him before the ceremony and Rev Tim was telling him about some of the charity work he does. My husband was really impressed with him.

And I love the way his voice sounds on my video. :teeth:

Well, I just mailed my deposit to him today, so I hope we like him. We want a Catholic style ceremony and he seemed very willing to work with us on that.
