Hi - Am now considering 5 nights at Reunion Resort in Feb. There are 5 of us....dh, me, 3 kids ages 6, 9, 11.

I have a ton of questions about this place that I am hoping someone will be able to answer.

I know they are strict on private rentals and think you have to be booked as a "guest" and pay an extra fee to use the facilities? Very confusing.

What is the best way to book here? Direct or through an owner?

What are the service fees they talk about?

If I rent through an owner do I pay extra to use the facilities...(waterpark, etc?) How much?

How much is a round of golf here?
Do all the "villas" have a private pool?

It also looks like a 3 bedroom is cheaper than a two bedroom. Must be more of them?

Any help in answering these questions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I am by no means an expert, but just booked 2 seperate weeks. 1 in Nov in a 3 b/r condo and tentatuivly a 5 b/r for May for a family gathering.

Anyways, I agonized over the questions you have and this is what I have found. Renting thru an owner is less money. Some will add you as a house guest so you have resort privledges, some will not. The condo I rented has and he will bill me at the conclusion of our stay for any charges incurred. The house however, is requiring 1000.00 deposit for use of the amenities and will refund if there is money due.

Not all homes have a private pool. FOr instance the condo we rented overlooks a community pool which is fine by me the balcony actually sits on the pool. The house however has an infinity pool and spa. Not sure about the golf fees as my DH has some golf dates set up outside this resort although he may use this as well.

The reason whe chose this out of all the others is because of the waterpark, spa and restaurants on site. I also arranged for daily maid service so it is truly relaxing.

If you rent through them directly, you won't have to pay any extra for the facilities.

We felt the best way for us was to rent directly because we
didn't have to pay any extras for the waterpark. The price wasn't too much more to rent directly either, and it included daily housekeeping service.

What are the service fees they talk about?

If I rent through an owner do I pay extra to use the facilities...(waterpark, etc?) How much? I have read on these boards that when you rent from an owner, you are given 4 passes to the waterpark each day, and you will pay $10 extra each extra person you have, per day. When we were there though, the sign at the waterpark said something about renter's of owners paid $10 (it seemed like per person), while guests ( of the resort)-no matter how many are in your villa- were free. We just showed our room card and got in free.

How much is a round of golf here?I'm not sure on this one.
Do all the "villas" have a private pool? The villas we were in, Carriage Pointe, did not have there own private pool. They did, however, have there own pool that was just for that group of villas, and it may as well have been private, because 95% of the time, my family were the only ones swimming in it! ;)

It also looks like a 3 bedroom is cheaper than a two bedroom. Must be more of them? The reason these 3 bedrooms are cheaper than the 2 bedrooms is because of where they are set up location wise. The 2 bedroom villas are closer to Reunion Grande, the resorts' main building, and also the waterpark. However, we had a rental car, so driving around the resort to do things wasn't difficult for us. And, IMO, I didn't think any of the resort was really THAT far away.

Any help in answering these questions would be very much appreciated.

We just returned from our stay @ Reunion Resort from 6/26 - 7/5/07. For starters, I think you are making an EXCELLENT choice! :thumbsup2 The group of us, me, my dh, ds (7), ds(5), dd (2), dmil,dm,d step-dad, and db; really enjoyed the place. It was meticuolously (sp?) cared for and my mom and mil were constantly raving that it is the nicest place we have stayed in thus far. We had 2, 3bedroom villa units at Carriage Pointe, which were the cheapest in price to rent from Reunion directly, and they matched our budget for the trip. Before we went I was very nervous as to what the place would be like, but we were all pleasantly surprised. ( Even the picky dh :) !)

I have tried to answer most of your questions above. One more thing to think about when it comes to renting from an owner/ vs. renting directly from Reunion, when you are renting from Reunion directly, they explain to you that it is a "cashless, tipless resort." Basically, they take a cc number from you when you check in, and EVERYTHING you do there is charged to that account. This is true for all of their restaurants and also the food service at the waterpark. From what I have read on these boards, if you were to rent
from an owner, I believe you have to charge these things to their account and then pay them the balance after the trip. We just found it much easier to pay all on one bill at the end with the room charges.

Sorry this got lengthy, but I hope I was some help in answering your questions. Feel free to PM me if you need any other info/help.

Good luck in whatever you decide and have a wonderful vacation!

Thank you both so much for all the info!!!! I really appreciate it and will probably rent direct from the resort after all.

It sounds like this place is more upscale than some other places in the area and is exactly what I'm looking for this trip. It is definitely more money than we usually pay for a place in Orlando, but not that much more and it really sounds wonderful. I think all of us will have a great time there.

Thanks again.

Hi great answers...

Golf will be very expensive anywhere this time of year in the area...I am guessing even as a guest of an owner greens fees will be over $100. I work at Mystic Dunes golf course, just a mile north of Reunion. If you want any ideas about golf let me know...The courses at Reunion are spectacular and if they can be played for under $120 they will compete with the other courses in the area for price.

Enjoy...it is a spectacular place...Ted
