Return to the Madness Part Two 2/25 Arrival Day…Our rooms rock! And Stitch is NOT a ride!

Cast:
Me: Obsessive Disney Planner, Disney Commando in 12 step program learning how to do Disney with kids!!!
DH 30- Loves Disney as much as me, but content to sit at the pool and watch the kids…
DD6- knows everything, or thinks she does
DD5- loves everything, especially if it is pink
DS4- loves Buzz. We call him Stitch, he is messy and destructive, but very cute.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I lost my voice the day before we were scheduled to leave for Disney. I felt fine, but I had absolutely no voice. The kids were amused since I couldn’t tell them to clean up, or stop fighting. The same was true on the plane as I watched the pink de-icer stuff drip over the windows (repeatedly)…no voice…
DH talked with our Tiffany Town car driver the whole way to Wilderness Lodge…I sat and watched out the window since I had no voice.

Got to the Wilderness Lodge around 1130am. We gave our bags to bell services and headed into the beautiful lobby. When it came time to check in, I made DH come up to the desk with me. DH does NONE of the planning. He likes to have nothing to worry about. Since my voice was only a whisper, he came with me to help translate. We were greeted by Roger at the desk. The kids immediately found the televisions off to the side and were content to sit and wait. We had reserved two connecting rooms. I had requested bunk beds for the kids and a king size bed for us. I wasn’t sure I would get what I wanted, but didn’t really care….we were officially on vacation! (Voice or no voice I was going to have fun.) Only one of our rooms was ready, and that was fine with us. Roger gave us our keys and directed us to our rooms. They were 1154, and 1152. They were on the bottom floor and the balcony (more like a deck area) faced the DVC pool. If we left our room, headed down the hall and to the left we were at the big pool…not too far….it was perfect. DH and I ended up with a king size bed…it also happened to be a handicap room, which meant the shower was HUGE. (no tub, but it didn’t matter). We were excited to learn from Mousekeeping that our other room was ready as well. The kids were thrilled when we saw the bunk beds. They immediately made a plan for who would get the top bunk, and when.

After our bags arrived we decided it was time to head to the Magic Kingdom. It was around 2pm. I knew it would be pretty crowded as it was the end of President’s week, but we didn’t even care if we did the rides….we just wanted to be there and soak it all in. We had a dinner ressie at CP around 5:30pm so we figured we would do what we could before then.

We went to the dock and the boat was waiting for us. The ride was quick and before long we could see the castle shining in the sun. There were a lot of people at the Magic Kingdom that day! Once we made it through the bag check, and the turnstiles, we headed down Main Street to Tomorrowland. There was almost no line for Stitch, even though the sign said 20 minutes, I knew it would be less. We were allowed into the first room. The kids were excited. I was optimistic, so far so good. Then we were let into the next room, with the Sarge (or whoever he was). He explained the situation, and then it was time for our encounter with Stitch. The kids could hardly wait. We ended up in the row, but that was fine, we could all see. The room was NOT full, in fact we were the only ones in our row. I won’t go into too much detail about the “ride” but I will say this. My kids were disappointed. Although it went along with what they remember from the movie they thought it could have been so much more. You only saw Stitch for a few minutes, and then he burps in your face, you get a little wet and then it is over. DD6 said, “Mom, that was NOT a ride, and it was boring…can we not do it again?” The other kids agreed. NOT a RIDE. NOT something we would do again. We all left a little disappointed, but it didn’t last long…Buzz was next. Again, although it was VERY crowded, the line was not more than 10 minutes. Before I knew it we were off to catch the Evil Emporer. I was pretty excited for this ride. I have never been able to beat DH. This time, I was sure I would, I had done my homework and research on badshoe.com. I was ready to take him down…or I thought I was. Unfortunately I had one of the kids with me, and she insisted that she get a turn to spin the car. My score wasn’t bad, around 300,000 (which was great for me) but I still didn’t beat DH. Maybe next time!

After we rounded up Zurg, we headed for the TTA. We all enjoy this ride a great deal. It is very relaxing. I noticed that they were running Space Mountain with empty trains, and there was hardly any line in the queue. We decided to skip it since it appeared as though they were having technical difficulties.

We then headed off toward the Crystal Palace, and took a quick ride on the teacups before walking through the castle.

The castle was beautiful, the gold decorations really sparkled in the sun. Although the hub was still partially covered by the green walls, the view of the castle was not disturbed. It was beautiful.

We got to the Crystal Palace a little early, and they seated us right away. The food was great, DH loved the adobo pork especially. The kids ate like I had never seen, and I felt we got our money’s worth. I still couldn’t talk at this point, and Tigger felt bad for me…he gave me lots of hugs, and made me drink my water. The kids thought it was great. The kids finished their meals just in time for the parade around the dining room.

At this point, we were all dragging a little having been up since 3 am, so we decided to head back to the WL and take a quick swim before calling it a night.

The boat ride back to WL was fast and relaxing. We stopped at WL first, and the kids ran to the room to change into their suits. They LOVED the slide, and since it was a little on the cool side, they basically had it all to themselves.

We were all asleep that night by 8pm. We had a long, full day, and were all happy to be in the World again!

Next up: AK, a messy meal at Whispering Canyon, and Spectro/Wishes

Thanks for posting these... I am enjoying them! The way you surprised your kids is exactly the way we did ours, and I know my 4 year old son will never forget it!

:earboy2: Just reading your reports is making me so anxious for our trip to get here! We leave in one month, 3 days!! Yippeee!!! :cool1: princess:
