Thursday 13th September - Day 0
We both worked a full day then hurried home to have some tea, throw the last few bits into the suitcase and then set off for the airport hotel. I'd checked in online in the morning but thought we'd go to Gatwick and do twilight check in as well (I hadn't been able to print off boarding cards, problem with the system) but I realised on the way that we weren't going to be able to do that and get to the hotel while a member of staff would still be there to greet us (they finish at 2100) so decided not to bother with twilight check in as I wanted to make sure that the hotel booked the taxi for the correct time in the morning, and decided that if I had dropped the bags off that would have just given them longer to misplace my luggage! Arrived at Little Foxes and was given the same room as last year. I washed my hair then we had an early night.
Friday 14th September - Day 1
Had breakfast in the hotel then got a taxi to the airport. There was no queue at bag drop so i'm glad we didn't drop them off last night. They told us there would be a half hour delay which wasn't too bad. Headed through security, no hold ups here then took a tour round the shops before getting a coke and settling down to wait for the gate number.
In the end we took off about 45 minutes late, it was quite a bumpy flight. I had meatballs for lunch, DBF had Chicken Tikka Masala. I watched Blades of Glory and Oceans 13. Later we got sandwichs egg and cheese or ham and chicken.
Landing was not brilliant as we swung slightly one way then the other as the pilot righted the plane. We had a long wait for the bags and then there was a long queue at Alamo which made me worry there would then be a long queue at Pop Century but thankfully there wasn't.
We were given a room in the 50's building on the first floor (their 2nd floor) overlooking the lake although you couldn't actually see it because of a load of trees were in the way. Before we went to the room though I went and got a refillable mug!
Lady and the Tramp
After unpacking we decided that we'd rather just go to Everything Pop than Downtown as first planned to eat as I was not feeling great, I had Chicked Strips and DBF had Pizza, then we had a short walk and saw a lot of lightening so we headed back to the room. It started to bucket down with rain and I thought about poor Natalie and the others at MK for the first MNSSHP. We watched TV then went to sleep really early.
